Matrix

NewReleases can send notifications directly to your Matrix room or even multiple rooms.

The integration is done using Matrix API with access tokens authorization.

How to set it up?

1. Open NewReleases Matrix settings page.
2. In your Matrix client, go to Settings > Help & About > Advanced. There you can find Homeserver URL and access token.
3. Decide in which room you would like to receive notifications and get its ID from room's Settings > Advanced section
4. Create the integration by clicking on Add Room button.

Messages

NewReleases will send messages only about new releases of the project that you configured with Matrix notifications, a message when you enable the integration and one on integration removal. No other type of messages will be sent.

It is highly recommended you create a new user and do not use your own Matrix user's access token as it will allow full access to your account and all the rooms you joined. Instead, create a new user and only invite it to the room that you want to receive the notification in.

Removal

The proper way to remove Matrix integration is from the same Settings page where you have enabled it. It is possible to enable and disable NewReleases Matrix integration unlimited number of times for any room that you want.
