Announcements

This is the last planned "minor" release for version 0.x of xclim.
All further development of xclim will proceed on the v1 candidate branch (dev-v099) until the release of v1.0.0.
No new features will be accepted for v0.x and existing Pull Requests currently targeting main will be rebased/merged.

New indicators and features

  • xclim.indices.helpers.make_hourly_temperature now accepts infill_polar_days. If set to True, this means that polar days and nights are set to 24 and 0 hours duration, respectively. The default behaviour is unchanged (infill_polar_days=False) and fills these cases with NaNs. (GH/2381, PR/2382).
  • Run length indices now support a quantile reducer. (PR/2369).
  • xclim.ensembles.robustness_fractions now accepts strict_sign which can be set to false to include zero-change in both positive and negative fractions. Default behaviour (True) is unchanged. (PR/2387).

Breaking changes

  • Fix maximum_consecutive_* indicators to harmonize them with their docstring, add op argument to control comparison and fix some non-existing standard names. (GH/2368, PR/2370).
  • xdoctest is no longer required to run the doctests and has been removed from the development dependencies. (PR/2383).

Internal changes

  • zizmor added to pre-commit hooks. GitHub workflow permissions have been adapted for better security settings by default. (PR/2367):
    • Adjusted the token creation permissions to prevent creating tokens with unnecessary access privileges.
    • ReadTheDocs OS version updated to ubuntu-26.04.
    • workflow-warning.yml now simply uses GitHub API calls.
  • Due to a regression, pytest is now pinned below v9.1 when running doctests with tox. (PR/2380).
