What's Changed
This release brings ldapjs-promise into a modern, maintained codebase. It includes the direct merge of the upstream ldapjs implementation into this project, the conversion to ESM, and a refresh of the client, server, and documentation layers for Node 20+.
Highlights
- Merged the core ldapjs client/server implementation into the project so the library can be maintained directly.
- Raised the minimum supported runtime to Node 20.19.0.
- Refactored the request queue to async/await semantics for clearer request flow and more reliable processing.
- Converted the package to ESM and modernized the module structure.
- Refreshed documentation, examples, and generated docs for the client, server, DN, filters, errors, and guide content.
- Expanded test coverage for unit and integration scenarios, including message tracking, request-queue behavior, server/client flows, and issue regressions.
- Updated CI and dependency versions to current supported tooling.
Breaking changes
- The package now ships as an ESM module.
- Applications using CommonJS
require()should migrate toimportsyntax. - Node versions earlier than 20.19 are no longer supported.
Summary
v4 is the result of a full modernization pass: the library now ships as a maintained ESM project with current dependencies, a Node 20 baseline, and a more complete, documented LDAP API surface.
