What's new
- Less stutter: when a kingdom or area starts, the game no longer freezes until every shader is ready. Only effects the game draws just once wait. For a new player, the first frame of the Sand Kingdom went from 3.2 s of freezing to about 1.9 s. Shaders are cached after the first time, so later visits are smooth.
- No more memory spike: after playing for a while, memory use could climb from about 9 GB to over 20 GB in the first minutes after every start (one very large shader). It's now built in a fraction of a second, and only when the game needs it.
- Clear message for incomplete game files: if the romfs comes from an update instead of the base game (about 1 GB instead of 5.2 GB), Power Moon Recomp now says so instead of crashing at start. If you already set it up with such files, delete the "extracted" folder and start again.
Updating: Windows: unpack the zip over your old "Power Moon Recomp" folder. Saves, settings and mods stay. Linux: replace the AppImage.
You still need your own copy of Super Mario Odyssey 1.0.0 (exefs + romfs). Nothing of the game is included.
