gitlab open-photoid/openphotoid v0.1.5-rc.1

latest release: v0.1.5-rc.2

A release candidate for OpenPhotoId 0.1.5, for macOS (Apple Silicon and Intel), Windows and Android.

This is a pre-release. GitLab has no pre-release flag: its latest-release link, which the download buttons on openphotoid.com and the desktop update check both follow, goes to the release with the newest date. This one is dated just before 0.1.4 for that reason, so 0.1.4 stays the default download and Check for updates does not offer this build. To try it, download it from this page.

What changes since 0.1.4

Both changes are about the network: the apps now make no request of their own while you use them.

Android

  • The app no longer asks Google about its form fields. Android WebView, which draws the app, looked up content-autofill.googleapis.com when a photo was chosen and the document list appeared. The lookup carried no photo data, only the WebView's version and hashes of the search box and language menu, but the app had no use for it. It is no longer made.

macOS and Windows

  • The two models (the face detector and the portrait matting model) are inside the installer. The desktop app used to download them from GitHub the first time a photo was processed.
  • The icons, including the spinner shown while a photo is processed, are inside the app. They used to load from cdn.jsdelivr.net each time the app started.
  • So the first photo now works with no network, and the buttons keep their icons offline.
  • Check for updates still asks gitlab.com for the latest release, and only when you press it.

Nothing else changes: the documents, the checks, the editing and the exports are those of 0.1.4.

Downloads

  • macOS 11 or later: OpenPhotoId_0.1.5_universal.dmg, one app for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, signed and notarized by Apple.
  • Windows 10 or 11, x64: OpenPhotoId_0.1.5_x64-setup.exe. The installer is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say "Windows protected your PC". Choose More info, then Run anyway. This build has not been run on Windows.
  • Android 8.0 or later: OpenPhotoId-v0.1.5-rc.1.apk, signed with the same key as 0.1.4 (version code 1010), so it installs over 0.1.4 as an update.

latest.json, OpenPhotoId_0.1.5_universal.app.tar.gz and the two .sig files are what the desktop update check reads; you do not need to download them. SHA256SUMS lists the SHA-256 checksum of each file.
