🕹️ Release Information

This release fixes several issues in the Android port such as properly applying the current values of options to the menu like button scaling and toggling the controls with the controller button. Custom on-screen controller button mods are now possible, there is a XBox button mod in this repository that can be found here. On-screen buttons can now be placed anywhere with the new "Edit Layout" option found on the On-Screen Controls settings menu. I also learned that some Android devices still crash with threaded map loads, so that is now an option in Game settings that can be toggled if you experience a crash when switching maps. This is "disabled" by default on Android, so if you have a newer device you may want to toggle the option to "enabled". Finally, more sane defaults are used for both button transparency and scaling, which of course can be configured in the On-Screen Controls page.

While the focus of this release started with Android specific fixes, there have also been a ton of other fixes as well. An interesting new feature is the ability to print photos from the photo album to simulate the Game Boy Printer feature. Several issues with the ending sequence have been fixed, and even more fixes have been applied for the "Classic Scrolling" option when "Classic Camera" is enabled. A Vulkan specific crash has been fixed, as well as a crash when grabbing Marin as a follower at the end of the game, returning her, then playing the ocarina. Improvements have been made to the "Pixel Snapping" option and "Pixel Grid" shader, interacting with other shaders such as the wobble shader and circle shader to respect game pixels over screen pixels. The minibosses "Smasher" and "Blaino" have been reworked to have more accurate behavior, followers now have new behaviors when using world teleporters, and the menu no longer resumes music when it shouldn't during moments of silence (like Tarin racoon bouncing around the screen, opening up dungeons, or the silence when playing the ocarina in front of the egg). Overall, this release has many fixes and improvements, bringing this port closer to the original game and one step closer to perfection.

🛠 How to Use

Download the version that matches your operating system.
Extract the patcher file(s) from the zip file.
Open the base folder of v1.0.0 (or v1.1.4+) of the game.
Drop the patcher into the base folder alongside the executable.
Open the patcher and select the version you wish to build (Windows, Android, Linux, MacOS).
- Windows comes in DirectX11, DirectX12, OpenGL, and Vulkan.
- Linux and MacOS have x86-64 and Arm64 versions and OpenGL and Vulkan for rendering.
- Android is currently OpenGL only but supports x32 and x64x.
Press the Patch button (Create when building Android). It will take a moment to finish.
When complete, the patcher can be deleted.

🐧 SteamOS users:

Starting with v2.0.3, a workaround was implemented to hide the on-screen keyboard from popping up. But if you want disable it completely.

Press the Steam button and navigate to your Library.

Select LADXHD and click the Gear Icon (Settings) -> Properties...

General tab, scroll down to the bottom to find the Launch Options text box.

Enter the command SDL_ENABLE_SCREEN_KEYBOARD=0 %command%.

🍎 macOS users:

Because this patcher is not notarized by Apple, macOS will block it from running by default. To fix this, please use the fix-permissions.command script included in the ZIP file. If macOS refuses to run the script itself, you can easily override the warning by following these steps:

Open System Settings on your Mac.

Navigate to Privacy & Security.

Scroll down to the _Security_ section and click Open Anyway.****

If all else fails:

Open the terminal.

Type chmod +x(leave a space after the x)

Drag the script into the terminal window.

Press Enter. You should now be able to run the script.

💾 Download Notes

There is now two versions of the patcher: the Full patcher and the Lite patcher.

The Lite patcher is under Packages links. It is average 30MB, does not contain any patches, and downloads everything as needed. It is not version specific: it will always download the latest version from Gitlab.
The Full patcher is under Other links. It is average 500MB, contains patches for every OS, and is the patcher I've been offering this whole time. The patcher only contains the game version specified.

GitLab has a 10GB storage quota, and just about everything counts against it. The Full patcher is offered off-site at the links and can be found below in the "Other" section. The Lite patcher is found below under the "Packages" section. It assumes an internet connection and requires connecting to this repo to download what it needs, as it needs it. The Lite patcher should NOT be used for archival purposes. Download the Full patcher for that purpose which contains all the patches for every OS.
