What's new since build 70
Game fixes
- The green-hat kid adventure: it now boots, gets through the intro and plays. It used to abort about 20 s after launch, on a 64-bit wait-on-address the kernel rejected (upstream Eglantine #567 is ported). About 80 shaders it couldn't run before now translate, so the white screen is gone and the world renders (#87).
- Star Fox: gameplay runs at 60 fps instead of 30. Ampere GPU timestamps are now reported in nanoseconds (#84).
Updater
- The in-app updater now checks Lichii's GitHub releases and picks the right download for your platform (#82).
Diagnostics (all off by default)
- The frame dump can also record every texture a pass or compute dispatch samples (
EDEN_NX2_FRAME_DUMP_SAMPLED=1), andEDEN_NX2_REJECT_HASHswitches off specific shaders for A/B tests (#87).
Known issues
- Green-hat kid: outdoor areas have far too much fog and glow, much hazier than on console. We're working on it.
- Green-hat kid: performance is low, about 12–22 fps on a Ryzen 5900X with an RTX 3080, and three rare shaders are still unsupported.
- Star Fox on RTX 50-series GPUs can still lose the GPU device after a scene change. Try NVIDIA driver 610.88.
- "Failed to allocate 14336 MiB of backing memory" means Windows ran out of RAM plus page file. Set the page file to system-managed.

Linux
Linux packages come as an AppImage (self-contained, needs glibc 2.39 or newer: Ubuntu 24.04, Fedora 40, Debian 13, Arch) and a tar.gz (uses your system libraries, so Qt 6 and the usual libraries must be installed).
| Build Type | Standard | PGO (Recommended) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| amd64 | AppImage · tar.gz | AppImage · tar.gz | Make the AppImage executable (chmod +x) and run it
|
| ARM (aarch64) | AppImage · tar.gz | AppImage · tar.gz |
Windows
Windows packages are in-place zip files: extract and run lichii.exe, or eden-cli.exe from a terminal.
| Build Type | Standard | PGO (Recommended) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| amd64 / x86_64 (MSVC) | MSVC zip | The only Windows build with NVIDIA DLSS. Also use it if you run into graphical issues on other builds | |
| amd64 / x86_64 (MinGW) | PGO zip | Built with MinGW clang; bundles its own DLLs, no Visual C++ redistributable needed. No NVIDIA DLSS: use the MSVC zip for that |
macOS
| Build Type | Standard | PGO (Recommended) | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| arm64 (Apple Silicon) | zip | macOS 15 or newer. Not notarized: right-click and choose Open the first time, or run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine lichii.app. eden-cli is inside the app, in Contents/MacOS
|
The PGO builds are the same programs compiled with profile-guided optimization (clang plus Eglantine's profile); prefer them when your CPU supports it.
