Disco! 3.0.1

A clearer way through a big library, settings that stay in the same place across themes, and fixes for idle shutdown.

Focus A–Z wheel

The selected letter stays at twelve o’clock. Turn clockwise or anticlockwise through the alphabet, with nearby letters highlighted and distant letters gently fading. The ring uses subtle accent highlights and the current theme’s own fonts and colours, including Zune’s lowercase lettering and Null’s pixel type. There is no heading above the large centre letter.

Tap the centre to jump, or release and wait one second. Holding the wheel keeps it open; Back cancels. The A–Z keys option remains available.

Unified settings

Every theme shares Playback, Audio, Display, Connectivity, System, Battery & power and Help. Display starts with Brightness, Theme and the selected theme’s own settings; shared presentation and navigation controls follow. Ring and Braun keep their own applicable controls.

Battery & power groups battery Details, idle power-off, screen-off/screensaver timing, sleep timer, charging protection and power actions. Equalizer opens the existing full preset/profile screen. DSD output is informational and player-managed; no DSD mode command is added. The unused startup disc-colour setting is removed.

Saved options and per-theme preferences retain their existing meanings. Important anchors come first; remaining rows are alphabetical, with On/Off settings last. SongSphere stays at the bottom of Playback.

Shutdown and responsiveness

Idle shutdown retries after failed asynchronous shutdown attempts. Renewed activity or audio cancels pending idle shutdown before handoff. Explicit sleep-timer and manual shutdown remain distinct. Stock idle-timer takeover failures are reported.

The release also includes the reviewed theme rendering/cache and timer-lifecycle improvements from dev, preserving existing animation output.

Validation and limits

Host checks cover wheel gestures and wrapping, confirmation/cancellation, theme fonts, settings navigation and saved values, idle/shutdown behaviour and rendering regressions. The release binary is built for static little-endian MIPS32r2/o32/FP64/NaN2008 and checked against the tracked sources before packaging. No new physical-device compatibility claim is made; charging, real playback and shutdown still need on-device acceptance. See validation notes.

Thanks to b0hemia for diskOS, namastecoconut-imagined for the Zune theme, and everyone who tried Disco! and shared feedback.

Happy listening.
