diskOS Disco! 2.5.5
Not tested on a Disc yet. This release was built and checked on a computer only. If anything misbehaves,
the SD update rolls back by itself, or choose Go back; 2.5.4 stays available on the releases page.
Experimental: Thai, Vietnamese and Korean
Song titles, artists, albums and lyrics in more languages, in every theme:
- Thai now shows instead of empty boxes. The Disc can't stack Thai marks the way phones do, so tone marks are
placed above the vowels: always readable, sometimes a little higher than you're used to. - Vietnamese letters with accents now show.
- Korean: the 2,350 everyday syllables, at the same smaller size as Chinese and Japanese.
Not yet: Hebrew and Arabic (right-to-left) and Indian scripts. Please
tell us how your music looks, with a screenshot if you can.
Fixes and small things
- Covers on fuller cards. Covers are cached until the SD card has less than 500 MB free (was 1 GB), so Cover
Flow and lists show covers on nearly full cards. - Restart the battery totals. On the Battery page, hold the "Since full charge" line: playing and screen-on time
start again from now ("Since reset" until the next full charge). - Docs: the how-to matches the 2.5.4 Display menu, a showcase video on the website, and clearer install advice.
Installing and updating
- Already on diskOS Disco! 1.4.1 or newer? Update from the SD card: download
mq_ui, sign it with your own
keys and copy thediskos-updatefolder to the card (how). Your settings, music and stats stay. - New install? Start from FiiO's stock V2.57 firmware (recommended). Installing over upstream diskOS or
another diskOS build is not supported and can be buggy; restore stock first. See Install. - Windows: the Windows app is shared as-is and unsupported. Start from stock V2.57 there too.
After updating
- Settings > System > About shows 2.5.5.
- The new version starts as a trial: play some music or tap Keep to keep it. If it doesn't start properly,
the Disc goes back to the previous version by itself, or choose Go back. - Something odd? Hold Volume Up from power-on to start FiiO's own interface once, and restart to come back.
