ProtoQuill v4.9.0

Breaking changes

  • Artifacts are published under dev.zio, not io.getquill. Update your dependencies, e.g. "dev.zio" %% "quill-jdbc-zio" % "4.9.0" (#776).
  • Built with Scala 3.9.0. Compatibility with Scala 3.8 or earlier is not guaranteed. Upgrade your Scala version before upgrading ProtoQuill (#809, #810).

Features and improvements

  • Build uses sbt 1.13 and Scala 3.9.0. TranslateRunner stays Unit (#810).
  • Macro-expansion performance: fewer redundant implicit searches in the ctx.run() pipeline (#720).
  • Dynamic-query detection message is no longer printed during macro expansion (#473).
  • Diagnostics documentation added (d67d541a).
  • Documentation references updated (#531).
  • CI migrated to zio-sbt-ci (#790); sbt-dependency-submission runs as a GitHub Action (#739).

Bug fixes

  • Fixed regressions in ReflectiveChainLookup introduced by #809. Macro expansion of static(Mod.db.url) no longer aborts on case-insensitive file systems, and nested-object lookup no longer matches unrelated top-level objects (#810).
  • Adapted to Scala 3.9/3.10 changes (#809).

Dependency updates

  • ZIO and zio-streams 2.1.26 (#745); zio-json 0.10.0 (#770).
  • Scala 3 library 3.8.4 (#755), then 3.9.0 via #810 (an earlier 3.9.0 bump, #785, was reverted in #794).
  • JDBC drivers and pools: PostgreSQL 42.7.14 (#801), MySQL Connector/J 26.10.0 (#808), SQLite JDBC 3.53.4.0 (#782), H2 2.5.252 (#789), HikariCP 7.1.0 (#757).
  • Logging: logback-classic 1.6.6 (#812).
  • Build tooling: sbt-ci-release 1.12.1 (#795), sbt-scalafmt 2.6.2 (#797), sbt-scoverage 2.4.4 (#703), zio-sbt-ci 0.8.6 (#800), pprint 0.9.3 (#649).
  • Caliban 2.11.1 (#641).
  • Other updates and CI action bumps are in the commit history since v4.8.6.

Compatibility

  • Requires Scala 3.9.0. Builds against Scala 3.8 or earlier are not supported in this release.
  • Depends on quill-engine and quill-util 4.8.5.
