github z3xox/Tenkaichi3Decomp v0.1.39.4

Script mods (Lua), the community's gameplay fixes as options, widescreen message fixes and an animated Dragon Radar.

Update from inside the game: on 0.1.39 or later, press Update now when the game says an update is available, then Restart now. Your saves, settings, game data, mods and texture packs are not touched.

New

  • Script mods (Lua) (thank you josehs08): small scripts in a mods folder next to the game that can draw over the picture, read the fight and change how the camera is shown. They can't change a fight, read or write files or reach the network, so they're safe online, and each player can use different mods (or none). F1 → Mods lists them: switch each one on, change its settings, reload them after editing. Mods start switched off: a folder in mods/ does nothing until you tick it. How to write one: docs/port/mods.md.
    • Included in mods/, switched off: Modern HUD (a Sparking Zero-style HUD: portraits, curved health and Ki bars with the damage just taken and Ki just spent in red, Blast stocks, timer, combo), Modern camera (inertia, tilt in turns, hit reactions, distance, height and zoom), Modern look (anime shading, rim light, vivid colours, ambient shadows; GPU renderer for some parts), Skill list (your skills and specials with their buttons and costs while you hold charge). Also two small examples to start your own from. Updating from 0.1.39.3 or older leaves mods/ as it is, so these come with a fresh download; from this version on, an update adds the mods that come with the game that you don't have yet, and never overwrites your own or ones you changed.
    • For mod authors: cam.zoom and cam.collide (a moved camera kept out of walls and the ground), and each fighter's moves, charging and charge button.
    • Modern look's Energy light costs a lot of performance on slower machines, so it starts at 0.
  • F1 → Tech: the community's fixes of the game's mechanics, from "BT3 PS2 Port Gameplay Source" v0.3.1: Z Counter fix (Z Counter 2 v0.9.0) and Bombardment fix (v2.2). Both are off by default, apply from the next fight, and are never used online or in replays.
  • Tenkaichi Budokai Online: the Quick Match search shows an animated Dragon Radar (fan art by chestergreen).

Fixed in Widescreen menus

  • Message text on Ultimate Battle, Ultimate Training, the tournaments and Character Reference: no longer runs into its window's corner at 16:9 or wider screens; it starts just after the corner.
