Lobbies replace rooms, tournaments, and the game now updates itself. Everything from 0.1.38.9 is included.
Everyone needs to update by hand once. 0.1.39 and 0.1.38 can't play each other online. From this version on, the game installs updates itself (see below), so this is the last manual update.
Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.

Lobbies are the way to play friends. Tenkaichi Budokai Online's list is now Quick Match, Ranked, Lobby and Join; Create Room is gone. Lobby → Open Lobby gives you a code to share, others type it in Join. With two people it plays like a room, and you get the rules on the page, rematches without leaving, up to six spectators and tournaments. A new lobby starts with the rules you used last.
- By address, without the matchmaking service: Lobby → Host by Address shows your port and your network address; others use Join → By Address.
-
Tournaments in lobbies. The owner sets the lobby's Mode to Tournament and the number of Entrants (2 to 8). Whoever sits in the player places when the owner starts is in; the others watch. The bracket page shows the draw, the winners' path and the champion; each match is played by the two entrants while everyone else spectates.
- Odd numbers get byes. Someone who leaves loses by walkover.
- A dropped connection isn't the end: the place is held for 90 seconds; rejoin with the lobby's code and you're back in (an interrupted match is replayed).
- A draw is replayed. In the rare case the two players' games disagree on the winner twice, the owner chooses.
-
The game updates itself. When a new release is out, the game says so: Update now downloads it in the background (you can keep playing offline), then Restart now when you choose. Your saves, settings, game data, mods, texture packs, songs and stages are never touched, and nothing from the disc is needed again. Every update is checked against our signature before it is installed, and if anything goes wrong the old version is put back. Based on the updater contributed in pull request #107 by JosephLlacchua, thank you!

Who can play whom:
- Quick match (strangers) needs the original disc's game data.
- With friends (lobbies, by address) it's enough that both have the same data, so friends with the same mod can play each other.
- The game now waits until it has checked its data before going online.
-
More of the game can be translated: story mode subtitles and saga narration, the tournament texts, Sim Dragon and the Ultimate Battle menus (pull request #244 by Victorgonl, thank you!). The European languages imported from the PAL disc now cover these too. If you imported the European disc before, import it again to get the new lines. If you made your own translation files, back them up before updating: catalogs the game generated itself are refreshed, catalogs you edited are kept.
Fixed
- On a slow drive (for example a USB hard disk), the online screens could say "Cannot Go Online" with the original disc's data, because the data check had not finished yet. The check now starts with what matters for online play, and the screens wait for it instead of refusing.
Changed
- Dragon Net Battle is no longer in the main menu: everything it did is in Tenkaichi Budokai Online now. It is still in F1 → Online → Advanced. F1 has a new Online tab with the online settings.
