Lobbies and spectating. Everything from 0.1.38.7 is included.

Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.

New

  • Lobbies. Tenkaichi Budokai Online has a new Lobby entry. Creating one asks for nothing: the lobby page opens with a code to share, and the others join with Join Room and that code, as for a room.

    • Up to eight people: two players (1P and 2P) and six spectators.
    • The lobby's owner sets the rules on the page itself, with left / right: battle type, time limit, game speed, rollback and input delay. Everyone sees them live.
    • The owner moves people between the player and spectator places (Cross on a place, then Move) and can remove someone. Everyone can mark themselves ready and chat (the name keypad, or a PC keyboard).
    • The owner starts the match. After it, everyone is back on the lobby page. The owner can also take everyone back to the lobby at any time: "Back to the Lobby" in their pause menu, in the menu after a battle, or Triangle at the character select.
    • Triangle on the page leaves the lobby (for the owner: closes it, which sends everyone back to the menus).
  • Spectating. Up to six people can watch a match: in a lobby, everyone not in 1P or 2P watches; for a room of two, open Dragon Net Battle, enter the room's code (or the host's address) on the Join tab and choose Watch the match. A host can turn this off with "Let others watch the match".

    • A spectator plays the same fight on their own game from both players' inputs, about 0.4 s behind. They only ever see the real fight, never the corrections of rollback.
    • View: player 1's, player 2's, or both in split screen, switched with V or R1, or in the spectator's pause menu.
    • The spectator's START menu is the battle's own pause menu with Continue, View and Leave. It pauses nothing: the fight goes on.
    • A spectator who joins in the middle of a fight catches up from the start. Spectators never slow the players down.

Fixed

  • Starting an online match without restarting the game could stop for good at the language question, when no language had been chosen yet or "Always ask" was on.

Good to know

  • Lobbies and spectating need 0.1.38.8 on every side. An older version that tries a lobby's code is told to update. Rooms and quick match work between every 0.1.38 version, as before.
  • If joining a lobby fails, the game says why. If it says the owner's game did not answer, a firewall on the owner's PC may be blocking it: allow Tenkaichi3Decomp in Windows Firewall ("Allow an app through Windows Firewall", private and public networks).
  • Please report problems with the bt3_log.txt from next to the game.
