Fewer hitches when big effects appear for the first time, and the online menu can be translated. Everything from 0.1.38.3 is included.
Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.
Faster
-
The first time an effect appears. When an ultimate, a transformation or a new effect shows up for the first time in a session, the game prepares dozens of new textures in a single frame. On slower machines, that frame took longer than the game's 33 ms and pictures were skipped. That work is now much faster:
- palette textures (most effects) are converted in a fraction of the time;
- large textures are prepared on several processor cores at once;
- the check for menu and battle text no longer reads every texture in full;
- the graphics card's images for new textures are prepared ahead, in quieter frames.
In a recorded session of two fights with ultimates, the texture work went down by 77% (worst frame 30.7 ms → 8.3 ms). On a machine simulated to be slower, skipped pictures went from 80 to 43 and the 1% low from 22 to 26 fps. Every texture looks exactly as before.
On the first start, the game rebuilds its list of menu labels from your disc data (a fraction of a second).
New
- The online menu (Tenkaichi Budokai Online) can be translated. Put a file
translations/port/<language>.jsonnext to the game; its language is then offered at the first start and in F1.port/tools/tbo_strings.pymakes the file to fill in, with every line in English as a placeholder; lines left in English stay English. Accented letters (á, ñ, ü, ¿...) work.
For bug reports
- The log now names your graphics card and its driver.
BT3_DRAW_LOG=<ms>logs every picture that takes longer than that to draw, split into its parts.
Online matches work with every 0.1.38 version.
