Quick saving, songs in MP3, WAV and FLAC, menus that scale on large screens, and a glow that is right at every internal resolution (and a little faster).

Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.

New

  • Quick saving (F1 > Misc > "Quick saving", on by default). A save no longer sits on the memory card window for several seconds: it goes through at once, with a small card in the corner of the screen. At start the game loads your save without the card pages and goes straight to the logos. Options > Load still asks first, then loads at once. A new game's first save on an empty card shows no window; with a save already on the card, the questions that warn you it will be overwritten are still asked. A missing card, a full card, a damaged save or a failed save still show the game's own window. Online, the game's own pages always run.
  • Songs in MP3, WAV and FLAC are played as they are, with no conversion to ADX first (thanks to the contributor of #171). Drop them into the songs folder. The .adx copies that earlier versions made from your MP3s are no longer listed a second time; they can be deleted.
  • Menu size. The settings window, the online windows, the chat and the notices now grow with a screen taller than 1080 pixels (they were tiny on 2880 x 1800 and 4K screens). F1 > Video > "Menu size" makes them larger or smaller than that.
  • Glow and glare have their own strengths (F1 > Effects): "Glow strength" for the glow around characters (a Super Saiyan's hair, auras), "Glare strength" for the sky's glare. A strength you had set before is kept for both.
  • "Sharp stage blur" (F1 > Effects, on by default): the stage's blur keeps the detail of the internal resolution. Off, it is as soft as the PlayStation 2 draws it.
  • The mouse pointer is hidden during play and shown in the settings, the online windows, the exit question and while you type a chat line. F1 > Misc > "Hide the mouse pointer during play" turns this off.

Fixed

  • Glow ghosting at higher internal resolutions. The glow of Super Saiyans and other glowing characters came out as a sharp, shifted copy of the character instead of a soft halo (easy to see in Character Reference). The glow's work buffers are now drawn at the PlayStation 2's own resolution, so the glow is the console's at any setting, and those passes cost less than before.
  • Games freezing for seconds when a controller vibrated. Some controllers make the game wait for every vibration command. Such a controller is now sent fewer of them, and one that holds the game up has its vibration turned off, with a notice.
  • Outlines are the same thickness at every aspect ratio (they grew wider in widescreen and 21:9).

Tested

Performance on an integrated GPU (Ryzen 7 9800X3D), no frame cap, against 0.1.37.1: a fight at 2x 126 to 127 pictures a second (123). The glow at 6x compared with the 1x picture: the same halo. Quick saving: saves, loads at start, Options > Load, a new game on an empty card and over a save, a damaged save and a read-only save file. Songs: MP3, WAV and FLAC heard in fights on Linux, the old .adx copies left out, quitting during a song on Windows. Vibration: a controller made slow on purpose (fewer commands at 8 ms, off at 60 ms, the fight unchanged). The menus at 2880 x 1800 and at 150%. The Linux and Windows programs build.

Not tested: a real controller that is slow to vibrate, the online windows and the chat at a large menu size, Windows display scaling, macOS.
