github z3xox/Tenkaichi3Decomp v0.1.37.1

Online fixes: sounds that went missing or stuck with rollback, Solar Flare's blinding in online matches, and a desync no longer ends the match.

It plays online with 0.1.37, but the desync change only helps when both players have 0.1.37.1 (a 0.1.37 copy still ends the match on its side). Saves and settings carry over.

Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.

Fixed

  • Z-counter, vanish and teleport sounds of the other player no longer go silent online. With rollback, when their input arrived a few frames late, the sound of what they did was never played. It is now played then, a few frames late.
  • A ki charge sound that stayed the whole fight. When your game guessed the other player was still charging and they had already let go, the charging loop started on the guess and nothing ever stopped it. A sound that only came from a wrong guess is now stopped, and a later stop always reaches the sound it is meant for.
  • Solar Flare online: the blinded player now sees the blinding fade out, as offline. Online, only the short flash was shown.

Changed

  • A desync is a warning, not the end of the match. When the two games stop agreeing, you are told, the meter shows "desync since frame N", and the match goes on. F1 > Misc > "End an online match on a desync" brings back the old behaviour.
  • Two games with different game data are not matched (a modified disc image against the original, say). Both players are told why, instead of a desync a moment into the fight (when both have 0.1.37.1).
  • The log says why a match stuttered: a long wait for the other player is written down with its cause ("nothing arrived from the other player" or "the other player's game is behind"), and the meter shows it too.
  • Windows writes bt3_log.txt next to the program when the game is started from the Explorer or a shortcut (the run before is kept as bt3_log_prev.txt). Attach it to a report.

Tested

Two copies on one machine at a simulated 120 ms ping with rollback and no input delay, a fight with input on both sides: sounds that the old build dropped were played (30 and 52 in 70 seconds), the ones from wrong guesses were stopped (4 and 7), and every comparison of the two games was the same. Solar Flare by hand in two windows. The Linux and Windows programs build; a one-minute rollback match on Linux after all three changes, without a desync.

Not tested: the sound fixes by ear, a real internet connection, the Windows archive itself, macOS.
