A Battle font, fighter panels for the side bars, and fixes.
Saves and settings carry over from 0.1.35.2.
Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe (the fonts folder has a new font).
The game's "Update available" notice does not announce this release: it counts as 0.1.35, like 0.1.35.2.
Battle font
Thanks to Victorgonl (#116):
- F1 > UI > Battle font: the fight's own lettering drawn from a font: the announcements (Ready!, Fight!, K.O.!, Time Up!, Winner! and the others), the combo counter and its messages (Hits!, Counter!, MAX POWER!, BOOST!...), the timer, the wins and the blast stock digits. Anton comes with the game as that font; Original keeps the game's artwork and is the default.
- Announcements in widescreen keep their proportions: Ready! and Fight! were drawn too wide in a 16:9 picture, and their light effects now stay on the word (#94).
The game makes the list of battle labels from your disc data at its next start, as it does for the menu labels: the Battle font choice appears when that is done.
Fonts of your own (fonts/fonts.tsv): the last column says where a font can be used: 1 = Menu, 2 = Dialogue / UI, 4 = Battle, added up for several (3 = Menu and Dialogue / UI, as before; 7 = all three). Lines you added to an earlier list keep their meaning.
Fighter panels
From a contributor:
- F1 > UI > Side bars: Fighter panels. When a 4:3 fight fills a wide screen (full screen with the picture on 4:3), each side bar shows that side's fighter: the character select portrait, the name down the inner edge and the form below, in the fighter's colours. The panel changes when the fighter switches or transforms.
- Name font and Form font under it choose from the game's fonts (the same list as the other font settings).
Fixes
- The exit question (Esc) opens and closes at its normal speed in a fight too; it played at half speed there.
Tested
- The Battle font with Anton, the fighter panels and the exit question in a fight, on Linux.
- Both programs were built from the release's tag by GitHub's machines, with the build key. The matching PS2 build was run and both checks pass.
- The same recorded fight played on 0.1.35.2 and on this release: the same frames per second (OpenGL and Vulkan), and with Anton within a few percent.
Not tested: the Windows program in a fight, macOS, a match between this release and 0.1.35.2 (the changes only draw, nothing of the fight).
