github z3xox/Tenkaichi3Decomp v0.1.35

latest releases: v0.1.35.2, v0.1.35.1

Online chat, the game's own exit question, and a font for menu headers.

It plays online with 0.1.34 (the chat needs 0.1.35 on both sides), and saves and settings carry over.

Updating on Windows: replace every file of the old copy, not only the .exe.

New

  • Online chat (thanks to jllacchua, #97). During an online match, Tab opens a line in the lower left, Enter sends it, Esc or Tab puts it away. Your rival's lines show for a few seconds and fade; with the line open, the last few stay up with a Copy button and a "Mute rival" box. While you type, the keyboard does not play (a controller does). F1 > Misc > "Online chat" turns it off, and F1 > Controls > "Open online chat" changes the key. A player on 0.1.34 sees none of it. Lines are plain text and go only to the player you are matched with.
  • The exit question in the game's own style (thanks to victorgonl, #98). Esc, or "Exit game" in F1, asks with the game's Yes / No dialog, with its look and sounds. Triangle on the title screen asks it too.
  • A font for menu headers (thanks to victorgonl, #91). With a menu font chosen in F1 > UI, the menus' headings (Main Menu, Dragon History, Options and the rest) are drawn in DejaVu Sans Bold in the game's gold-to-red style. Liberation Sans is no longer in the list: if you had picked it, choose a font again in F1 > UI.

Tested

The chat with two copies on one machine without a display: each line arrives once, the rate limits hold, non-English text arrives as typed and control characters are removed, and against 0.1.34 the fight stays the same. By hand, between two players through room codes. The exit question during a fight (No continues the fight, Yes closes the game) and at the start of the game, without a window. The header font on a recorded walk through the menus, compared picture by picture with the build before it. All three together: two copies played online for 57,296 frames with the whole state of both the same throughout. The release programs themselves: the Linux one passes the replay check and signs its requests as 0.1.35, and both were built with the build key. The matching PS2 build was run and both checks pass.

Not tested: the Windows program (it was built, not run), macOS, the OpenGL fallback, the exit question started by the Esc key or Triangle itself rather than by a test hook, and the chat through the relay.
