Rate what you play, turn the phone on its side, and ask for what you are missing.
Ratings
- Five stars, wherever your server keeps them. Under the title on the player, in the song and album options, and as a Rating order in your library's sort sheet. Tapping the star already set clears the rating, which is the only way to take one off.
- A rating is not a favourite. A favourite says keep this where I can find it — it builds the Favourites playlist, shows up in CarPlay, and survives being offline. A rating says how much you like it. They now sit beside each other rather than one standing in for the other.
- Filter out what you do not like. With a Rating sort order, the one-star tracks are one tap from the top or the bottom of every list.
- Your rating shows straight away and stays put until your server's own answer comes back, so it never flickers to what it was.
- Ratings appear on Navidrome and other Subsonic servers. Jellyfin and Emby keep likes rather than a star count, and on Plex a favourite is a rating — three stars there would quietly unfavourite the track — so the star row, the sort order and the setting stay hidden rather than half working.
Every screen size
- The app lays itself out for the window it is in. Landscape, an iPad in Split View and a half-open foldable are each just a window, and each now gets a layout rather than a portrait one stretched to fit.
- The player has a second shape for a screen on its side, instead of pushing its own controls off the bottom.
- A wider window shows more artwork, not bigger artwork. Lists of rows stop at a readable width and centre, because a row is the one shape that gets worse the wider it gets — at full iPad width a track had its title against one edge and its duration against the other.
- Nothing moved on a phone. Every size is the one the app already drew at phone widths.
- Both onboarding forms scroll once they no longer fit, which is what a phone on its side with the keyboard up looks like.
Downloads and wants
- Get and Want are on the screen you found the music on. A browsed album screen has always had a Get button; a browsed artist screen had nothing but a
⋯. Both now carry Get, with Want beside it. - Asking for an artist works from the artist. It used to mean wanting them, walking to Library › Wants, finding them again, and opening a menu on the row — and tapping the row itself took you back to the artist screen, which was the one place with nothing to press.
- Following an artist now asks what to watch, and then goes looking. It gets the same kind of review an album already had: which service, which quality profile, which of the artist's albums to watch, and whether to start searching straight away. It used to go straight out under a fixed policy you never saw, which is why it could never be asked to search at all.
- Following an artist Lidarr already knew now works. If the artist was in your Lidarr library but not being watched, the request reported success and changed nothing at all.
- Sending an album to a downloader no longer traps you in the sheet. It closes when you confirm, and the request reports itself as it goes — including a running count of songs for a downloader that has to ask for them one at a time. A failure used to leave you sitting in a sheet you could not swipe away.
- Following an artist needs Lidarr, the only downloader that watches for new releases. Without it, the button offers to connect one rather than doing nothing.
Everywhere else
- Home says when it is offline, the way Library and Search already did. It is the screen with the most to lose when the server is out of reach, since every discovery shelf is a request.
- Screen readers name controls they used to skip — every row and tile in the library, the switches throughout settings, and the artist on every track and search result, which used to be announced by title alone.
- The radius and density pickers say which one you are on to a screen reader, rather than reading as three unchosen options.
