🧊 Improved: Mica Backdrop Works with All Themes

• Added uc.flex.browser-mica-force-enabled-on-all-themes:

  • By default, Firefox only enables the Mica backdrop when the theme is set to System theme — auto.
  • This option allows Mica to work with any Firefox theme.
  • It decouples the Mica backdrop from the Windows light/dark theme setting, allowing Mica to match the active Firefox theme instead.
  • Requires the native Firefox preference widget.windows.mica to be enabled.

🖼️ Improved: Animated Wallpaper Support

• Expanded uc.flex.browser-wallpaper-enabled:

  • Wallpapers now support multiple image formats, including animated images.

  • JPG / WebP / PNG / APNG / AVIF / GIF / Animated WebP:

    • Rename the file to main-image-*.jpg, where * corresponds to index 1-9.
    • The file extension must always remain .jpg.
    • Place the file in ../icons/wallpaper/.

  • SVG:

    • Rename the file to main-image-*.svg.
    • The file extension must be .svg.
    • Requires uc.flex.browser-wallpaper-svg-enabled to be enabled.

  • Animated wallpaper resources can be downloaded from Motion Backgrounds.

  • MP4 videos can be converted into animated WebP images using FFmpeg or ScreenToGif.

  • Wallpapers use an acrylic blur effect by default to mimic the Mica appearance.

  • To display wallpapers without blur, enable uc.flex.browser-wallpaper-acrylic-disabled.

🖼️ Improved: Use the Current Theme Background as Wallpaper

• Expanded uc.flex.browser-wallpaper-index:

  • The value range has been expanded from 1-9 to 0-9.
  • The default value is now 0.
  • Setting the value to 0 uses the current Firefox theme background as the browser wallpaper.
  • Values 1-9 continue to use custom wallpapers while preserving the active theme colors.

• Added uc.flex.browser-wallpaper-align-horizontal:

  • Controls horizontal alignment when wallpapers are cropped to fit the browser window.

  • String values:

    • 'auto' or '0' = Automatic (default)
    • 'left' or '1' = Align left
    • 'center' or '2' = Center
    • 'right' or '3' = Align right

👁️ Improved: Lightweight Fix for Transparent Pages

• Added the Solid Page shortcut and toolbar button:

  • Displaying Mica or wallpapers inside the sidebar and web content area requires enabling browser.tabs.allow_transparent_browser.

  • Some websites become fully transparent when this preference is enabled, making content difficult to read.

  • This limitation has historically reduced the practicality of Mica and wallpaper features for daily browsing.

  • UltimaDark or Dark Reader can solve this issue.

  • However, these extensions may impact page loading performance.

  • v6.5 introduces a lightweight built-in solution called Solid Page.

  • It does not support per-site settings, but provides an instant toggle for applying a solid page background.

  • The feature has virtually no performance impact.

  • To use it, install UserChrome Toggle Extended and configure it using the image below.

  • Remember to click Apply changes in the upper-left corner for the configuration to take effect.

  • The default shortcut is Ctrl + Shift + 6 and can be customized through Manage Extension Shortcuts in the gear button menu.

    

• Added uc.flex.browser-solid-page-color-scheme:

  • Controls the color scheme used by Solid Page.

  • Values:

    • 0 = Force dark
    • 1 = Force light (default)
    • 2 = Follow Firefox's 'Website appearance' setting

• All built-in about: pages now support Mica backdrops and wallpapers.
• A complete list can be viewed from about:about.
