Nuvio Arc 1.1.0-nt.9.2

Nuvio Arc is my experimental fork of Nuvio for trying new ideas, not a replacement for the official app. It runs on the same boxes and works best on stronger ones. It's a one-person hobby project: report problems or ideas in this repo's Issues (best effort) or at r/NuvioForks, and please don't report issues from this build to the official Nuvio GitHub or Discord.

Nuvio Arc 1.1.0-nt.9.2 follows nt.9.1 with thumbnails that get going while you're still choosing a stream, a calmer start for 4K and Dolby Vision films, one DTS badge, and sound fixes for TrueHD and commentary tracks. Still on official NuvioTV 1.1.0-beta.9, and it installs over nt.9.1 keeping all your settings.

Thumbnails

  • Thumbnails get going while you look at the stream list. As soon as the list is complete, Arc opens a lighter copy of the film you're most likely to pick (the top stream on the list) and reads its index. When you pick that stream, the copy is handed straight to the player and the first thumbnails come within moments. Leave the list without playing and the copy is given back (a TorBox copy added for it is removed again).
  • The copy's first pictures show on the thumbnails screen as soon as they exist, and titles you've watched before open their copy straight away.
  • The player starts from the stream list you just picked from instead of asking every add-on again, so its Sources panel is ready at once too.
  • The thumbnails screen gets going sooner and the TV blinks less. On boxes like the Ugoos AM9, a 4K film is no longer opened behind the screen only to be closed again: the screen starts from the film's index, the copy's thumbnails show from its second picture, and a Dolby Vision film switches the TV into Dolby Vision once, when it starts, instead of three times.
  • No more 8-second wait before the thumbnails screen on a second film. After a film had used all your TorBox connections, the next film's screen couldn't read its index until the film itself started. Nothing plays at that point, so the thumbnails now get the connections.
  • A backup copy is opened beside the first (another file), so if the first turns out unusable the thumbnails can carry on from the backup instead of starting the search again.
  • Lighter copies a little longer or shorter than your film are used. WEB releases with a few seconds more or less of logos or credits (up to 3 minutes) used to be turned down. Arc now lines them up by their scene cuts and checks pictures from the start, middle and end before using them.
  • Samples and wrong files are skipped. A copy that turns out to be a 30-second sample or a file Arc can't read is dropped at once, never tried again through another add-on, and its source is ranked lower next time.
  • One odd picture no longer throws a good copy away. When a single check picture differs, two more decide.
  • The thumbnails screen no longer stalls partway. Slots a copy can't serve are made from the film itself at the same time, and for media servers away from home the screen only waits for what the copy can make.
  • Media servers away from home without thumbnails of their own get them from a copy. The screen waits for a TorBox (or other) copy's thumbnails instead of starting the film without any, and gives up only if no copy can be used.
  • No more thumbnails screen flashing up for a title that already has thumbnails saved.

Picture, sound and badges

  • Fixed a black picture with sound after the thumbnails screen on Dolby Vision profile 8 films on Amlogic boxes. The film now stays paused under the screen instead of being started again.
  • A DTS track shows one DTS badge. A DTS-HD MA film showed DTS, DTS-HD and DTS-HD MA badges with a badge pack. It now shows only DTS-HD MA (DTS:X shows DTS:X and DTS-HD MA), in the player, on the stream list and on the details page.
  • No more crackling after switching to TrueHD or DTS-HD mid-film. When Android refused the full sound buffer for a moment, Arc settled for a tiny one and the sound crackled until the film was closed. It now waits a moment and gets the full buffer.
  • The audio track you were on is kept when the player restarts after the thumbnails screen, so a film no longer jumps back to another track.
  • A commentary track is no longer chosen first. When the only track in your language is a commentary (a Korean film with an English commentary, say), Arc now starts on the main track, preferring the lossless one.

Install

The update banner in the app installs this release for you. Or download the APK for your device below and install it over the top (your data is kept):

  • app-full-arm64-v8a-release.apk for most current boxes (Shield, Ugoos, Google TV).
  • app-full-armeabi-v7a-release.apk for the Fire TV Stick and other 32-bit devices.

Nuvio Arc installs over earlier Nuvio Arc and Nuvio-test builds, keeps all your settings, profiles and sign-ins, and still installs next to the official Nuvio. Version 1.1.0-nt.9.2, package com.nuvio.tv.test.
