Nuvio Arc is my experimental fork of Nuvio for trying new ideas, not a replacement for the official app. It runs on the same boxes and works best on stronger ones. It's a one-person hobby project: report problems or ideas in this repo's Issues (best effort) or at r/NuvioForks, and please don't report issues from this build to the official Nuvio GitHub or Discord.
A point release on top of Nuvio Arc 1.1.0-nt.7, still built on official NuvioTV 1.1.0-beta.7. It installs over nt.7 and keeps all your settings.
The highlights: chapters in the player, seeking that waits for you to finish, no more freezes with big MDBList libraries, a Calendar that follows your own library and a sharper clock in the player, plus a good handful of fixes.
New
- Chapters in the player. When a film has chapters (most remuxes do), there is a Chapters button with a list of them, small marks on the timeline where each one starts, and the chapter name next to the year and while you seek. Next chapter and Previous chapter are new jobs for your remote buttons. Don't want them? Turn them off in Settings > Playback > Player Interface. ExoPlayer and MKV files for now. (#34)
- Coming up cards have options. Hold OK on a Coming up card for Go to details and Hide from Coming up, which keeps a show out of the row while it stays in your Calendar, Library and Continue watching. Hidden shows come back from Settings > Layout > Home content > Hidden from Coming up.
- Extra large card width in Settings > Layout, for clearly bigger posters. Home makes room for the taller rows so nothing gets cut off. (#7)
- Nuvio Arc is now an icon pack too. In Projectivy (and other launchers that take icon packs) change the Nuvio Arc card's icon and pick one of the transparent banners from Nuvio Arc, so your launcher's own tint and focus look apply to it. Nothing changes if you don't.
Better
Player
- Seeking waits for you to finish. Tap Left or Right while a film plays and it holds on the thumbnail of where you'll land. More taps add up, and the jump happens 2 seconds after your last tap, or straight away with OK. Back cancels and keeps you where you were. Holding the button starts gently and speeds up the longer you hold, and the thumbnail strip glides along with it. (#12)
- The clock and Ends at are bigger and sharper, with a clean shadow like your subtitles instead of a grey smudge, so they're easy to read on bright scenes. (#38)
- Seeking with thumbnails no longer hides the title behind the pictures. The title steps aside and a small label above the middle picture shows the time and the chapter. (#34)
- Resuming keeps the audio and subtitle you picked for a title, even after you change the subtitle delay or play another source in between. (#38)
- Resuming goes straight to your spot. Resuming from Trakt, or after a retry during start-up, used to fill the buffer at the beginning, empty it and fill it again at the resume point.
- Automatic speed-up gets 4K remuxes going sooner. Heavy files now start on two or three downloads straight away, and still drop back to one if the extra downloads don't help. (#8)
- A Connections row in the Stats panel, under Speed, showing how many downloads are running and their chunk size (like 3 × 16 MB), and whether Automatic speed-up chose them.
- Dim controls and subtitles in HDR tones down bright text and icons instead of fading the controls, so they stay readable on the light glass looks. (#38)
- The subtitle Bottom offset in the player moves by 1, like in Settings. (#43)
- The memory estimate in Buffer & network warns about the whole total. It turns amber or red when the buffer, downloads and thumbnails together are too much for your box, not just the buffer.
Home and library
- The Calendar and Coming up follow your library source. Shows from Trakt, Simkl or MDBList that you're signed into but don't use as your library no longer turn up, MDBList liked, dynamic and external lists are never followed, and started shows with no date drop off after 12 months like the rest. Want them all back? Turn on Settings > Calendar > Also follow my other services.
- Far fewer requests at start-up with several media servers. Modern Home now looks up artwork for media-server rows only as they come into view, backs off when an add-on says it's busy instead of hammering it, and keeps more server artwork cached.
- Add to library answers straight away with MDBList and Trakt. The button shows a small spinner while it works and no longer waits for your whole library to refresh first.
- Collections follow your backdrop and logo setting. With "Always Backdrop with Logo for Landscape Posters" on, collections in the Follow layout on Modern Home show the same backdrop and clear logo cards as Home, instead of the add-on's landscape posters. (#46)
- Watch Next on Android TV and Google TV shows the synopsis and the title logo, and so does the Nuvio Arc row. (#44)
- Add-ons that simply have no info for a title no longer show as failing. The add-on health light now only goes red for real trouble like timeouts or server errors.
Fixed
- No more freezes with lots of MDBList lists. An MDBList account with many dynamic or liked lists could fill the app's memory and freeze it on every start. New dynamic and liked lists now start hidden; turn on the ones you want in Settings > MDBList > Library lists.
- Home trailers play straight after start-up again, without first opening a details page and coming back.
- Thumbnails work again on 3 GB boxes. On boxes like the Shield, thumbnails no longer turn into grey boxes when the box's swap is full but plenty of memory is still free.
- The details page stays on the right episode. It sometimes jumped from "Next S1 E7" back to "Play S1 E1" a second after opening, mostly with Trakt, Simkl or a media server.
- Italic and bold text in SRT, WebVTT and TTML subtitles shows again, with your own font and size still in charge. (#42)
- Up and Down keep opening the controls when you give them only a Hold job, or set their single press to nothing.
- Removing a card no longer flicks focus. Focus moves straight to the next card in Continue watching, and stays in the Upcoming row when you remove a card there.
- Holding Right in a Home row no longer jumps back a few cards before carrying on. (#39)
- The chapter list scrolls smoothly. (#34)
