Nuvio Arc is my experimental fork of Nuvio for trying new ideas, not a replacement for the official app. It runs on the same boxes and works best on stronger ones. It's a one-person hobby project: report problems or ideas in this repo's Issues (best effort) or at r/NuvioForks, and please don't report issues from this build to the official Nuvio GitHub or Discord.
Nuvio Arc 1.1.0-nt.10 is built on official NuvioTV 1.1.0-beta.10. It installs over nt.9.2 and keeps all your settings.
This one is all about integrations. Plex arrives, Real-Debrid and AllDebrid join in and all your debrid accounts now work together, two new trackers, encrypted DNS, and watch parties with friends on the official Nuvio apps. Your media server libraries get genres and new ways to sort, and all of official beta.10 comes along.
The big ones:
- Plex support. Sign in with a code, pick your server and Plex Home user, and your Plex libraries show up on Home, in search, in Continue watching and as sources.
- Real-Debrid and AllDebrid, next to TorBox and Premiumize, and all your debrid accounts work at once.
- WeTrakr and Floppy join Trakt, Simkl and MDBList as trackers.
- Custom DNS (DNS over HTTPS) so an internet provider that blocks or fakes addresses can't get in the way.
- Watch party with Nuvio app users (experimental): join the same party as friends on the official Nuvio apps.
- Genres, A to Z and Newest release for your server libraries, plus "Folders from genres" to turn a whole library into one tidy Home row.
- Official NuvioTV 1.1.0-beta.10 merged.
Plex
- Plex joins Jellyfin, Emby and Silo. Sign in with a code at plex.tv/link (no password on the TV), pick your server and your Plex Home user, and your Plex libraries show up as Home rows, in search, in Continue watching and as sources.
- Plex's intro and credits markers and its thumbnails work too.
- Servers friends have shared with your Plex account show up too. Playing away from home, including from a friend's shared server, needs Plex Pass on the server owner's account or a Remote Watch Pass on yours. That's Plex's rule, not Arc's.
Debrid
- Real-Debrid and AllDebrid join TorBox and Premiumize in Integrations, with sign-in on the TV (scan the code, done) and their cloud libraries.
- All your debrid accounts work at once now, not just one. A result meant for Real-Debrid goes to Real-Debrid, one for TorBox goes to TorBox, and plain torrents get checked on TorBox and Premiumize together and play from whichever has them. "Resolve with" just picks which one gets asked first.
- Faster starts from your debrid account. Links are remembered even after closing the app, so resuming starts straight away, and anything already in your Real-Debrid or AllDebrid account plays without being added again.
- Season packs on Real-Debrid are kept together, and when the pack is already in your account the next episode is ready before the credits roll.
- Pressed a debrid source that isn't cached? Instead of an error the app now moves on to the next cached one in your list.
- Thumbnails can now come from your Real-Debrid and AllDebrid accounts too, using only titles that are already in them, so nothing new gets added for thumbnails.
Trackers
- WeTrakr joins Trakt, Simkl and MDBList in Settings > Tracking. Sign in with a code on your phone, then what you watch is sent to WeTrakr as you play it, watched marks go both ways, Continue watching can come from WeTrakr (pause on your phone, carry on on the TV) and the Library can show your WeTrakr lists: Plan to watch, Watching, Watched, On hold and Dropped. Each profile has its own WeTrakr account.
- WeTrakr counts a title as watched at the same 90 % as Arc, and a play you stop within the first minute (wrong stream, autoplay) isn't sent at all, so it doesn't clutter your WeTrakr history.
- The WeTrakr card shows how many of today's requests are used, since WeTrakr limits them per day. Syncing only asks for what changed since last time, and if the limit is ever reached the card says when syncing picks up again.
- "Send my history to WeTrakr" copies the watched titles and library already on a profile to WeTrakr in one go, with a count first. Titles WeTrakr already has are skipped.
- WeTrakr also works with the Calendar (new episodes of shows you follow there), Transfer library, and as a "More like this" source on details pages.
- Floppy as a tracker. Floppy shows what you're watching, finished titles land in your history, stopped ones keep a resume point, and Mark as watched carries across. Sign in with a code on your phone, or paste an app token. Thanks to dannyvfilms for Floppy and the original tracker design (NuvioMedia#3811).
Media servers
- Genres for Jellyfin, Emby, Silo and Plex libraries in Discover, taken from your server, so a big library can be narrowed to just its comedies or westerns.
- Each movie and show library also comes A to Z and by Newest release, next to the usual newest-added order. Use them in Discover, in collections, or switch them on as Home rows (they start off).
- Server libraries can be picked as sources in the Collection editor, with their genres too.
- New "Folders from genres" in the Collection editor. Pick a server library, tick the genres you want (the biggest are ticked for you) and Arc makes one folder per genre, so a whole library becomes one tidy Home row of Action, Comedy, Drama and so on, each tile showing its genre name over a picture from that genre.
- Jump to a letter and hide what you have watched. In Discover, a library's A to Z version gets "Starts with", so M on a huge library is the first thing you see, and every server library gets "Show: Unwatched". Both work together with the genre choice.
- Silo (and other media servers) now find shows they only know by their TVDB number, so episodes like Euphoria S1 E2 show up as a Silo source instead of "no match".
Watch party
- Watch party with Nuvio app users (experimental). Pick "With Nuvio app users" on the Watch party page and you can join the same party as friends on the official Nuvio apps (TV, phone, computer, LG and Samsung TVs). Up to 3 people, needs your Nuvio sign-in and goes through Nuvio's server. Arc parties stay the default and still need no account.
Network
- New DNS choice in Settings > Advanced. Pick Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, AdGuard or your own address and the app looks up add-ons, TMDB, images, debrid, media servers and ExoPlayer streams over an encrypted connection, so an internet provider that blocks or fakes those addresses can't get in the way. System stays the default.
Playback, sound and subtitles
- TrueHD passthrough should no longer stutter on boxes whose audio reports its position in big jumps (seen on a Realtek box). Silent keep-alive frames now only go in at pauses and seeks, or when the audio has really run out, and if any go in mid-film the stats panel shows how many on a new "A filler" row. (#87)
- Plain subtitles get their own Outline size (Off, Thin, Normal, Thick) and a separate Shadow with its own opacity, so a thick outline and a shadow can be on at the same time, on both players. Your current Text edge choice carries over. (#56)
- Italic subtitles in Noto Sans keep the same weight as the rest of the line instead of turning bold. (#91)
- The Generating thumbnails screen no longer sits still for up to 40 seconds when thumbnails from another release already match. The count moves on straight away.
Home and details
- "Resume from" only shows when the film will really resume. A film only picks up where you left off once a little of it has been watched, and the stream list no longer promises otherwise.
- New switch "Episodes left on Continue watching" (off by default): show cards get a small "5 left" pill counting the aired episodes from the one you're on. (#52)
- Details pages show IMDb's parental guide (nudity, violence, profanity, alcohol/drugs, frightening scenes) just above Cast, worst first with a coloured dot, using the same Content warnings switch as the player. (#92)
- Collection folders without their own background picture show their cover picture behind the row again when focused, like the official app.
- If Home ever stays black while it waits for rows that never arrive, it now asks for them again by itself after 20 seconds instead of needing a restart.
- Opening a show from the Android TV home screen or a link right after Arc starts no longer says "Meta not found" for 5 minutes. Arc waits for your add-ons to load and tries again by itself, and the error page shows the right ID and advice.
Add-ons
- An AIOStreams error (such as "Rate Limit Exceeded") no longer shows up as a title's details. Arc waits a moment and asks again.
- Arc only asks an add-on for title details it says it has. AIOStreams was being asked about every title on Home and answered "not found" hundreds of times per load.
- An add-on that answers "not found" for title after title is left alone for 10 minutes instead of being asked dozens of times at once.
Privacy
- Logs you share (in a GitHub issue, for example) no longer include your Nuvio sign-in token when a sync with Nuvio's server fails.
From official NuvioTV 1.1.0-beta.10
- Continue watching cards get "Mark as watched" in their menu.
- Back from a full-screen trailer on a details page goes back to the background trailer when "Play in background" is on, and the dark shade on the left no longer stays over the full-screen trailer.
- The player stays on the engine you picked (ExoPlayer or MPV) when the same stream restarts after an error or a subtitle switch.
- Debrid links are prepared in the background, so the screen can't freeze while a debrid source gets ready.
- The player no longer starts a source search again that has already finished.
- The sources panel marks the stream that is playing by its file name first, so the right one is ticked even when several add-ons list the same release, and stream info stays right with reused links.
- Add-on tabs above the sources keep focus on the chip you're on, even with lots of add-ons.
- Plugin users: the next episode stays on the plugin you were watching, its results come in first, and results from one plugin provider sit together in the list.
- MDBList tracking gets anime episode numbers right when the add-on and TMDB count episodes differently.
- HLG videos in MKV files that only mark HLG deep in the video stream are now seen as HDR (HDR subtitle style, dimming).
- Cantonese subtitles now count as Chinese for your preferred subtitle language.
- Network settings shows Wi-Fi or Ethernet instead of "Offline" when a VPN is on.
- Smaller fixes: right-to-left languages in stream info, the network test, sliders and the subtitle delay, plus updated Hebrew, Vietnamese, Spanish, Greek, French, Polish, Bulgarian and Brazilian Portuguese translations.
Good to know
- Plex away from home, including friends' shared servers, needs Plex Pass on the server owner's account or a Remote Watch Pass on yours.
- Real-Debrid and AllDebrid sign-ins stay on the TV you made them on. They aren't saved to your Nuvio account like TorBox and Premiumize keys, so sign in on each device.
- Watch party with Nuvio app users is experimental and needs your Nuvio sign-in. It takes up to 3 people, which is the limit Nuvio's server sets; Arc's own parties have no fixed limit.
- The new DNS choice doesn't cover MPV, trailers or torrents. They still use the box's own DNS.
