A small fix release on top of 1.1.0-beta-nt4.
Fixed
- Backdrops are back on the details page. Since nt4 the backdrop only flashed for a moment and then went dark, in both the Original and Nuvio V2 interface. It now stays, like before.
Changed
- The Play button follows your theme in Nuvio V2. It used to stay white whatever theme you picked; now it takes your theme colour (or the artwork colour with adaptive accent), with text that stays easy to read on light colours.
- Cleaner media server sources. Jellyfin, Emby and Silo sources in the source list now show just the picture, sound, size and server, without the file name and icons. Prefer the old look? Settings > Media servers > Source details > Full. Your Fusion badges and your auto-play regex rules still see the file name, as before.
Good to know
- Changing the app icon: Android closes the app when you switch its icon, and some home screens (the Shield's, for example) keep the old shortcut until the box restarts. If the app does not open from the home screen after changing the icon, restart the box. This is how Android handles it; the official app does the same.
- Transcode to AC-3 with Surround format on Auto: Auto works out what your TV or receiver can take and picks by itself: AC-3 when it only takes stereo PCM but can take Dolby Digital, multichannel PCM when it can take that. If Auto gets it wrong for your soundbar, set Surround format to Manual and the "Transcode denied formats to AC-3" switch comes back.
- Number of channels vs Decode channel target (ExoPlayer): both only change sound the app decodes itself, never sound that passes straight through to your receiver. Number of channels (under Enable downmix) is your own "mix decoded sound down to this" choice; Decode channel target is what your TV or receiver can play (Auto reads it from the device). When both are set, the smaller one wins.
- IMDb trailers are an extra option, not a replacement: ad-free and in HD. They are off by default, so YouTube works as before. Turn on "Use IMDb trailers" under Settings > Layout > Details to try IMDb first, with YouTube as the fallback.
Install
The update banner in the app installs this release for you. On Android 9 and 10 this is the first update from nt4, where that fix landed: if it still stops with "Update signature is unavailable", please let me know and install the APK by hand. Or download the APK for your device below and install it over the top (your data is kept): arm64-v8a for most current boxes (Shield, Ugoos, Google TV), armeabi-v7a for the Fire TV Stick and other 32-bit devices.
