This release is mostly about edge case bug fixes and refinements rather than new features.
New Feature
- Audio output setting: Passthrough, Dolby Digital 5.1 or Stereo (player > gear icon > Playback)
- Trailer player setting: play trailers in Wuplay, in the YouTube app, or in Wuplay with the YouTube app as fallback (Settings > Playback)
Added
- Player: Audio output replaces the Dolby Digital conversion toggle; it is per device and applies right away. Stereo is for boxes with no surround support that played video with no sound
- Trailers: the "Trailer unavailable" card offers Open in YouTube when the YouTube app can play it
- Player: the status line can sit top right (as before), bottom right next to the gear, or be turned off (player > gear icon > Display)
- Player: the audio picker shows the file's own track name (dub studio, commentary)
- Player: Zoom is remembered per title and synced across your devices
- "Don't ask again" on the Drop Show, Remove from Continue Watching and Hide Everywhere confirmations (per profile, synced)
- Trakt, MDBList and Simkl: watch history is now two-way. Titles marked watched in Wuplay that the provider is missing are pushed to it when you connect and on every sync
Changed
- Trakt, MDBList and Simkl: a title on your watchlist leaves it the moment it is marked watched
- Continue Watching row is hidden when it is empty
- Details: any D-pad press cancels the autoplay-trailer countdown (was Back only)
- Details: titles that aren't a known movie or show (live channels for example) no longer show Play Trailer, Cast & Crew, Reviews, Similar Titles or empty info rows
- Trailers: when a title's trailer is blocked in your country, another one is tried before giving up
- Preview thumbnails are now generated for titles in every language except Chinese
Fixed
- Player: AAC audio tracks that failed with "Unsupported Format (4003)", often on dubbed MKVs, now play through the app's own decoder
- Player: streams the device reports as above its capabilities (4K HEVC with an unusual level label, for example) are now tried instead of skipped; some "No compatible streams" results came from this
- Player: after the app sat in the background for a while, every stream could fail with "Decoder failed" until a restart
- Stream picker: the addon column could render blank on some Android 10 boxes (reported on a Mecool KM9 Pro)
- Player panes: focused rows no longer turn opaque, and the focus outline on the first row of the addon and season columns is no longer clipped
- Continue Watching: a show newly added to your library could miss its new episode on air day (with "Today's episode shows in" set to Continue Watching)
- Trakt, MDBList and Simkl: a title removed from your watchlist on the provider could reappear in Wuplay's Watchlist row and be re-added on the provider
- Simkl: anime now syncs (watched episodes, plan to watch, Continue Watching)
- Simkl and MDBList: a title marked watched on the provider's site now shows in Continue Watching as soon as the app opens, not a minute later
- Trakt: a title could be logged as watched twice (once when you stopped past 80%, again when Wuplay marked it watched)
- Show details cached on your device (episode lists, air dates) now refresh when they change instead of waiting up to a week
- Hebrew and Indonesian: catalog titles and descriptions were shown in English
- Newer settings are translated in every supported language
