Two field freezes from 0.96.4 are fixed. Choosing an output device in the Sinks panel could hold the window for as long as Windows took to open it, 57 seconds on one machine, because PortAudio's waveOut open ran on the window's own thread with no timeout. The open now runs on a worker: the click waits a second and a half for a healthy device, then the panel reads OPENING until a slow one answers, and the once-a-second reopen for a dead stream goes the same way. Separately, after FoxSDR had already abandoned a stuck SDRplay control (0.96.3), stopping the radio called back into the SDRplay library on the window's thread and froze behind the stranded call; once a control has been abandoned or the service has gone, the radio is left to the service and stopping returns at once. Recovery for that case is restarting the SDRplay API service, then FoxSDR. Both freezes were caught by the crash reporter, and both fixes have tests that reproduce the freeze against fakes.
Linux, first cut. The whole tree builds and its 130 tests pass on Linux, and this is the first release whose native radio drivers reach a Linux machine: RTL-SDR, HackRF, Airspy R2/Mini, Airspy HF+, RX888 mk2 and Mirics talk to their radios through the kernel's own usbfs interface (no libusb, no SoapySDR module), an SDRplay RSP through the vendor's Linux API library, and the Pluto over the network as before. Crash and hang capture, the crash reporter, usage reporting, the reports-folder and privacy links and the update banner all work on Linux; an AppImage and a tarball are built by CI on every push. It is still in development and has not been driven with a real radio on Linux, which the README and installer/linux/README.md say plainly; the udev rule there grants a desktop user access to the device nodes.
Two things a Linux tester should know. The SoapySDR scan helper is now crash-armed on Linux too, so a vendor module that dies during a scan files a report instead of vanishing; and the Linux build reports usage and crashes to the same endpoints as Windows, under the same two switches in Settings, with the same privacy notice.
