Fixes the NR recording/reset race identified in the Starfield crash report. Buffer transitions and command-list tracking now use consistent synchronization, including when NR initialization fails. No helper DLL or additional GPU wait is introduced.
Choose a download
- OptiScaler-NR-v0.8.1.zip — standard build, with the RTX 40 unlock compiled out. Ordinary DLSS FG/MFG remains available.
- OptiScaler-NR-v0.8.1-rtx40-mfg.zip — the same NR fix plus the optional built-in RTX 40 unlock. Its runtime toggle defaults off; enable it, save settings and restart.
For existing installations, close the game and replace the loaded OptiScaler proxy with the package's OptiScaler.dll, keeping its existing name (for example dxgi.dll). Preserve your INI and separately supplied NVIDIA runtimes. Full installations should extract the complete package and follow INSTALL-DLSSNR.md.
Validation and limits
The concurrent regression crashes before the fix and passes afterward; all 8,000 callbacks complete exactly once. Release x64 builds, NR proxy/lifetime/capture regressions and package checks passed. Unlock tests cover supported patterns and a mapped DLSSG runtime, not real RTX 40 gameplay.
Starfield gameplay still needs tester confirmation. This fixes the tracking race, not the separate 0xBAD0000B NR initialization failure reported in Starfield and MH Wilds. NVIDIA FG/NR runtimes are not bundled.
For RR games, try model resolution at 50–80% with Matched residual + DLSS enlargement.
The crash fix is also included in upstream PR #1158; the fork MFG unlock remains separate.
