EchoMuse firmware v2.18.1-ea.1 (Early Access)

Early Access firmware: offered only by Early Access controllers, never by GA. Pair with controller 2.26.1-ea.1. Fixes on top of v2.18.0.

Improved

  • Line-out keeps its bass (#748). With a plug in the jack the bass guard is bypassed, since it exists to protect the Dot's own driver; it comes back when the plug is removed. The limiter stays on either way.

Fixed

  • A power cut could empty a saved file (#863). The Sendspin pairing, the saved echo path, the config snapshot, and emOS's console password and idle timeout are now written to flash before the save returns, as the mute state already was.
  • Music could stutter (#848). The speaker's hardware buffer is back at 171 ms. At 85 ms a late write underflowed it and restarted the stream.
  • The speaker no longer waits on the echo canceller (#870). On Echoes using the hardware echo reference, each speaker write waited for the canceller's lock, up to 53 ms. Part of #866.

Tested

On 2026-10-13, on three Echoes (FireOS 5, emOS on the 32-bit kernel, emOS on the 64-bit kernel):

  • Mute survived a power cut within 2 seconds of the press, 9 times out of 9.
  • The bass guard bypass on plug and unplug, on the 64-bit emOS Echo, with no underruns.
  • #870 with the buffer set back to 85 ms: no underflows in 23 minutes of music with it, 17 without.

Known issues

  • After unplugging the jack, the internal speaker has not been checked on our own Echoes (#566).
  • An emOS Echo on the 32-bit kernel sometimes reconnects without rebooting (#816).

@sascha-hemi (#748, #848, #870).
