Summary
This beta focuses on Dynamic Island, with a horizontal layout in place of the vertical stack and updated music, notifications, timers and controls. Dock Preview also gains an experimental option to keep an auto-hidden Dock visible while you browse previews.
Changed
- Dynamic Island adopts a horizontal layout, with side-by-side cards, a redesigned mixer, compact calendar and timer controls, and an embedded Scratchpad.
- Dynamic Island can be shorter, down to 260 points, with content that adapts to the available space. Opening it during music, a timer, a download or a notification goes straight to that activity.
- App Switcher shows more window previews when space allows, including two side by side.
Added
- Dynamic Island previews notification messages on hover, with actions to open, dismiss or browse the inbox.
- Dynamic Island gains a stopwatch and optional music bars that follow playback. Music bars require system audio permission.
- Dynamic Island can show compact activity over menu bar items, off by default under At rest in settings.
- Dock Preview can experimentally keep an auto-hidden Dock visible while you browse window previews. Enable it under More options; it is off by default.
- Screen recordings export video, GIFs and shared links at custom speeds from 0.25× to 4×, with pitch-preserving audio.
- The mixer adds microphone volume control on supported devices, plus pinned apps and a saved custom order.
- Command Bar adds scientific calculations and emoji skin tones.
- Keep Awake offers separate Duration and Until modes and can require all selected automation conditions to remain active.
- Clipboard History can show the latest copied content beside the menu bar icon.
Fixed
- Dynamic Island more reliably identifies playing media, avoids flickering on displays without a camera cutout, and stays out of tiling window managers.
- Dynamic Island uses clear on/off switches for Mac sound and microphone when selecting a screen recording.
- Keep Awake restores lid sleep after timers, battery cutoffs and quitting.
- Command Bar no longer requests Keychain access for query learning. Query-specific learning now lasts only until the app quits; general usage ranking remains saved.
- A missing menu bar icon can recover automatically after an update. Manual recovery points to Allow in the Menu Bar in macOS settings when the app is blocked.
- Clearing permissions now stops input listeners, preventing keyboard freezes.
