🚀 ytdl-material 1.1.4

A cleaner download box and library, a proper layout for phones, search that works without any setup, and a Docker image that's about a third smaller.

✨ What's new

  • A cleaner download box and library. Search, sort, filters and download options have been redesigned to be simpler and take up less room. On a phone, choices open from the bottom of the screen instead of in a small dropdown. #460
  • The library works on phones. Videos are listed one per row, with a big thumbnail and the details beside it, instead of small cards down the middle of the screen. #459
  • Search from the download box. Switch the box to search, type what you're looking for, and pick a result to get its link ready to download. #457
  • Search works without an API key. If you haven't set one up, press Enter to search and you'll get the top five results. With a key, results still show up as you type. #458
  • Tidier player controls. Watch Together and Repeat now sit next to Autoplay, and descriptions show more before you expand them. #452

🛠️ Fixes

  • Clicking a video in the library sometimes did nothing, most often right after scrolling to it. #462
  • Kill all downloads didn't stop downloads running on yt-dlp, the default downloader. #446
  • Thumbnails and file downloads failed when media was stored inside a hidden folder, one whose name starts with a dot. #454

📦 Under the hood

  • The Docker image is about a third smaller: 330 MB instead of 502 MB on amd64, and 319 MB instead of 488 MB on arm64. #448 #449
  • Old and unused dependencies are gone and the rest are up to date, with no known vulnerabilities. #446 #447 #451 #455 #461 #463

⚠️ Before you upgrade

  • youtube-dlc is no longer offered as a downloader. It hasn't been updated since 2020. If you were using it, you'll be switched to yt-dlp automatically, and you can delete the old copy from appdata/bin. #447
  • Helm: the chart now needs Kubernetes 1.19 or newer. #447
  • 32-bit ARM: building the image yourself for 32-bit ARM is no longer supported. The published amd64 and arm64 images aren't affected. #448
