🚀 reddont 0.1.12
Reddit OAuth apps, as in teddit's use_reddit_oauth: for one user beside their cookie, shared with other users, or for the whole instance.
✨ What's new
- Reddit OAuth apps. Under reddit authentication on the dashboard, paste the ID of a Reddit "installed app" and reddont reads oauth.reddit.com with the app's token, as teddit's
use_reddit_oauthdoes. The token belongs to no Reddit account and is renewed before it expires, and its rate limit allows 1000 requests per window, against 100 for a cookie. #81 - A first choice and a fallback. Save a cookie and an app together and pick which one goes first under Try First. When Reddit refuses it, reddont repeats the request with the other. #81
- Sharing an app. Allow other users on this instance to fall back to my OAuth app works like the cookie checkbox: users without their own Reddit authentication use your app, in your order, and never see its ID. #81
- An app for the whole instance.
USE_REDDIT_OAUTH=truewithREDDIT_APP_ID, teddit's settings, turn on one app for every signed-in user. Users without their own authentication use it first, then what other users share; everyone else falls back to it. reddont asks Reddit for its token at startup and logs whether it got one. Requested in #75. #81 - Requests use. The dashboard lists the order your requests follow, such as "this instance's OAuth app, then a cookie another user shares". #81
🛠️ Fixes
- Bearer tokens. A bearer token saved as the Reddit credential was sent to www.reddit.com, which refuses bearer tokens. It now goes to oauth.reddit.com. #81
📦 Under the hood
- Fewer requests. Feeds of several communities, such as home, no longer ask Reddit for an about page, which it answers with 404. #81
- Coverage. JavaScript line coverage is 98.17%, with all 374 tests passing and none skipped. #81
⚠️ Before you upgrade
- Update the image to
ghcr.io/voc0der/reddont:0.1.12, or follow:latest. On first start the database gains three columns for the new settings; no configuration changes are needed. - Coming from teddit? Use your own installed app's ID from https://old.reddit.com/prefs/apps/: Reddit answers teddit's current default app ID,
ABfYqdDc9qPh1w, with 401.
