Quake VR: UNLEASHED 1.1.0 beta 2: the second preview of the next update, with everything from beta 1 plus the changes below. This is a beta: expect rough edges, and please report bugs (Options > Create Bug Report makes a zip you can attach).
Highlights
- Crash and progress fixes from 1.0.1 reports: The Matriarch of Decay's palace button and The Sacrifice's two vores no longer crash the game; The Sacrifice's Rune no longer appears before the sacrifices; Shub-Niggurath's teleporter takes you to the spiked ball again after loading a save; enemies are active ragdolls again after loading a save (make a new save: older ones stay affected).
- Create Bug Report: Options > Create Bug Report (also VR Settings > Headset, and a new Start menu shortcut) zips the recent logs, crash reports and settings into one file to send. Every run now keeps its logs.
- VR starts with OBS Mirror installed: the OBS Mirror OpenXR layer, which crashed some headsets at startup, is skipped automatically (Debug > Startup to change it).
- Performance: dynamic resolution (the eyes' resolution drops when the GPU falls behind, never above your render scale), lighter particles (half resolution in dense bursts, faded near your eyes, size-capped), gear and bodies off screen no longer drawn or shadowed, shadow casters shared between lights, your body drawn with a depth pre-pass, cheaper bloom, and the sound mix moved off the main thread.
- Full-body tracking: Quest 3 body tracking through Virtual Desktop drives your legs, trunk and elbows; Body Calibration uses it. The body now wears the Quake ranger's head.
- Holsters and loot: magnetic holsters pull a thrown gun back on a physical chain; bigger pickup zones for ammo, health and backpacks, a cue when you are full, optional auto-collect into the palm; soft light pillars over weapons and magazines lying about.
Combat and gore
- Bullet holes, nail holes and blast craters carved into walls; melee leaves blunt dents and blade grooves.
- Every hit dents; blood streams flow from wounds, and blade melee opens them too.
- Held enemies struggle against your grip; leg sweeps work with short weapons and from any side.
- Melee on walls and floors connects over the whole contact.
- Monsters' shots follow where they face: turn away from them and they must turn to hit you.
- Nails catch fire passing through any flame.
- Arcane Dimensions: the crossbow knight drops its crossbow as a usable weapon.
Menus and comfort
- Per-weapon reload modes (a new menu page), and a Turning Mode "Off".
- The build number and date shown in the menu corner.
Notes
- Your settings carry over: configs from 1.0.x and beta 1 migrate on first start: settings you left at an old default move to the new one, values you changed stay yours.
- Experimental and off by default: single-pass stereo, TAA.
