Experimental alpha, published at the maintainer’s request with the manual-validation gaps below disclosed. This is not a stable release or completion of every release gate.
GoogleCL returns as a Go alpha with desktop OAuth 2.0 and PKCE. This release restores a bounded set of historical commands; it is not a complete replacement for the old Python client.
Downloads
Archives contain both google and the identical googlecl executable. Choose Linux, macOS (darwin), or Windows and amd64 (Intel/AMD) or arm64 (Apple Silicon/ARM). Linux deb/rpm packages and SHA-256 checksums are included. No Python runtime is needed. Binaries are unsigned; macOS binaries are not notarized.
Supported commands
- Docs/Drive: list, upload (with or without conversion), download/export, and trash.
- Calendar: list, today, calendars, add, and delete.
- Contacts: read-only list.
- Authentication: per-profile/service login, status, logout, and persisted token refresh.
Historical argument forms and text output are preserved for supported commands, with JSON output also available.
Setup and compatibility
Create your own Google Desktop OAuth client and enable Drive, Calendar, and People APIs as needed. No credentials are bundled. Follow the authentication guide and compatibility matrix.
Docs editing, Contacts mutations/groups, Gmail, Blogger, YouTube, the interactive shell, many old flags/fields, and legacy xls/ppt exports are not supported. Picasa and Finance integrations are retired.
Validation and limits
Source commit: 4deededc39d6429f1e7b5f673200c4ac2b380395.
Hosted CI passed: Ubuntu, macOS, and Windows tests/builds, security scanning, and cross-platform packaging. These uploaded assets were built locally from that clean commit and independently verified; they do not have GitHub build-provenance attestations.
Built with exactly Go 1.27.3. Local race tests, vet, dependency checks, package-content inspection, and vulnerability scanning passed. The scanner found no reachable vulnerabilities and one non-reachable module finding (GO-2026-5932 in the unused x/crypto/openpgp package).
Real-account OAuth login and refresh, Drive upload/list/TXT-PDF export/download/trash, Calendar all-day and timed add/list/delete, and Contacts listing passed on macOS arm64. Only synthetic test files/events were changed and they were cleaned up.
Multiple authenticated accounts, natural token expiration, live service tests on the other platforms, all six native architectures, and Linux package installation/uninstallation remain unqualified. Tokens use private JSON files rather than the OS keychain; Windows relies on inherited directory ACLs. Cross-process token locking is not implemented and bulk writes are not transactional.
This is an experimental alpha for testing and feedback, not a stable release or a claim that every release-qualification gate has passed.
