New
- Hold anywhere on the video to seek (#116). Press and hold on the picture, then drag sideways. The seek bar follows your finger and the video jumps where you let go, so you no longer have to hit the thin bar at the bottom. The taps you already know still work: the sides seek, the middle pauses.
- Search inside a channel (#117). Channel pages have a magnifier now, and whatever you type there searches that channel only. YouTube serves no filters for this kind of search, so there are none in the app either.
- Get a downloaded video out of the app (#115). The menu on a downloaded video has a new "Save to Files" row that hands the file to the usual iOS share sheet, so it can go to Files, Photos, AirDrop or another app. It is named after the video, and only the video leaves: subtitles, comments and the saved page stay where they were.
- Clear the whole search history at once (#121). The last row under Recent searches wipes the list, and it asks first.
Fixes
- The mini player no longer sits on top of the tab bar (#118). Tapping a tab behind the collapsed player switches to that tab instead of reopening the video.
- Stereo no longer gets spatialized on AirPods (#119). Ordinary two-channel sound was being turned into a fake surround field that moved when you turned your head. Video that really is multichannel still spatializes.
- The "..." menu stops closing on its own (#128). It was reacting to the device being tilted or put down, which made it look random when you held the phone in your hand.
Also
- If your device is older than Opaline supports, the README now points at a downport for iOS 9 by another developer, which runs on the iPad 2, iPad 3, iPad mini and iPhone 4S (#125).
