Companion Surface is now GA on macOS, with multi-assistant switching, self-hosted assistant connections, a global Voice Mode shortcut, and CLI conversation search.
What's New
- Desktop Companion Surface. The floating Companion Surface is now live for all desktop users on macOS, complete with intro coachmarks. You can detach and resize the surface window freely, drag it using custom avatars, and see live turn indicators as your assistant works.
- Switching between multiple assistants. If you have more than one assistant, the sidebar identity pill now expands inline into a switcher. Pick a different assistant and the sidebar returns to that assistant's accent color, all without leaving the page.
- Talking to self hosted assistants from mobile and web. You can now pair and switch between self-hosted assistants by URL, on web and iOS.
- Global keyboard shortcut for Voice Mode. You can now trigger Voice Mode from anywhere on your desktop with a global keyboard shortcut, making voice conversations quick to launch while working in other apps. Go to Preferences > Voice to setup your shortcut, or use the default Fn key on your MacOS.
- Custom server URLs for Ollama. If you run local models with Ollama, you can now enter a custom server URL directly in your provider settings.
- Search conversations from the command line. Your assistant can now use the CLI
assistant conversations searchto quickly query and retrieve past chat history. - Direct photo and file picker on mobile. Tap the plus icon in the mobile composer to open your device's Photo Library or Files app directly.
- Reorganized billing UI. Settings billing is now organized into clear sections for Payment Methods, Credits, and Invoices.
- Plugin schedules and setup hints. Plugin schedules now run automatically by default, and installing a new plugin prints helpful setup hints directly in your CLI.
