Set an author's photo and bio yourself, filtered releases on the Wanted page, one part of a multipart audiobook no longer grabbed as the whole book, and readable text in both themes
Added
- Set an author's photo and bio yourself (#3287). The author page has an Upload photo link under the photo, working like the book cover upload: the image is stored by Bindery and stays as you chose it. Edit Author has a Bio field. A photo or bio you set is never replaced by a refresh or by Wikidata. To hand it back, use Remove photo under an uploaded photo, which fetches the provider's or Wikidata's photo straight away, or clear the bio. Thanks to francisrath for building it.
- Filtered releases on the Wanted page (#3364). The Search button on a wanted book now shows the same collapsed "Filtered (N)" section the book page has, so a release the title, author or language filter dropped can be grabbed from there too. When every release was filtered, the message says so instead of reporting no results. The free text Search page is unchanged: it applies none of those filters, so it has nothing to show.
Fixed
- One part of a multipart audiobook is no longer grabbed as the whole book (#3417): a release named "Part 3 of 5", "Pt 2 of 3", "Disc 2 of 4" or "CD 3 of 8" is now filtered out of audiobook search, because Bindery imports one grab as one book and cannot join several. The search debug view shows why. Sets of two ("Part 1 of 2"), "all parts" and "complete" releases, ebooks and "Book 3 of 12" series numbers are not affected. A recording posted as "Part 1 of 3" or longer is no longer eligible. Reported on Discord by .king.420.
- Library scan no longer attaches a file to a different book with a similar title (#3388): A Dutch Deathly Hallows chapter under a tracked Harry Potter folder was attached to Order of the Phoenix because the two titles share most of their words, and the right book was excluded so nothing else competed. When the best match has its own distinct words and none of them appear in the file's title, the file is now left unmatched on the Import page without that book offered as a close suggestion, and adding a book no longer treats such a file as one you already own. Typos, accents, subtitles and series notes still match. Thanks to foobarbigtime for the report and the reproduction.
- Another volume no longer approved when your library names it with the series prefix (#3382): If your library holds
Rotten School: Punk'd and skunkedas its own book, releases such as[Rotten School 11] Punk'd and Skunkedare now rejected for the wanted bareRotten Schoolentry, in either apostrophe spelling, even when the standalonePunk'd and Skunkedrow is excluded. A search forPunk'd and Skunkeditself and a plainRotten Schoolrelease are unaffected. Thanks to foobarbigtime for reporting and diagnosing it. - Books with an asterisk in the title can be found (#1637): a title such as "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck" is now searched with the asterisk as a word break. Prowlarr drops the character and asked the indexer for "Fck", which matched nothing. Thanks to Chris McGee (SturmB) for the detailed report.
- A Hardcover series can no longer end up as two series (#3368): a series you added by hand and linked to Hardcover used to get a twin the next time an author sync, Audiobookshelf import or Hardcover list sync saw the same Hardcover series. Those paths now file their books under the series you already have. Linking a second series to a Hardcover series that is already taken is refused with a message naming the first one, and automatic linking skips it. Libraries that already have a pair are not touched, but Bindery now logs the pair at startup so you can merge it.
- Author photos and bios after Refresh all (#3398): Refresh all, refreshing selected authors and scheduled discovery now fill a missing photo or bio from Wikidata when the author is due, instead of postponing it by a day each time they run. They enrich at most 100 authors an hour between them and leave the rest to the background refresh, lookups still go to Wikimedia one author at a time, and each author is asked at most once a month. Thanks to francisrath for the report and the fix.
- Audiobookshelf import no longer undoes author edits made while it runs (#3407): when an import linked an author you had picked by hand, it wrote back the copy of that author it read at the start, so a bio or photo saved in the meantime was lost. It now re-reads the author and only writes if nothing changed since. Fixed by francisrath.
- Norwegian translation (#3378): over 300 strings that still showed in English in the Bokmål interface are now translated, among them the Series page, duplicate review and the author edit dialog. 69 strings that were never offered for translation, such as those in the author edit dialog, can now be translated in every language. Thanks to francisrath.
- Readable text in the light and dark themes (#3084): secondary text, hints, counts, timestamps, badges and green status text across Settings, the main pages and the shared dialogs now meet WCAG AA contrast, where most of it was too faint in the dark theme and the green too light in the light theme. Thanks to francisrath, who worked through the whole app in four parts.
