HDR peak detection is now yours to choose
Réglages → Lecture → HDR et Dolby Vision → Détection du pic HDR.
Nuvio forced this on. mpv's own default is to decide for itself, and that is what
Nuvio now does unless you say otherwise.
Why it might matter to you. With detection on, the player measures how bright
each frame is and adjusts what it presents accordingly — so the picture's brightness
can follow the scene. If you have seen HDR look too dark in one shot and too bright
in the next, try Off and compare the same scene.
Automatic is the new default and is the right answer for most people. Off
never measures: steadier, and a very bright highlight may clip on a panel dimmer than
the master. On is what the previous versions did.
What the measurement said
On a Dolby Vision file, the player's stream information now reports the source and
the presented output as the same thing — pq · bt.2020 both sides. The picture is
not being flattened to SDR on the way to your television, which is what we had
assumed was wrong. That assumption is dead, and this setting is what is left.
