A playback stats overlay, ported from the Android app's latest releases.
Turn it on in Settings → Advanced, then open Stream information during playback and press
Stats. It shows, live:
- buffer — how many seconds are ahead of the playhead, with a running average
- network — what the connection is actually delivering
- bitrate — what the file needs
- cpu, memory, thermal — the three reasons an Apple TV stutters
Network below bitrate is why something is buffering. A thermal reading that goes orange or red is
why an otherwise fine stream started stuttering twenty minutes in.
Off by default, and behind two steps rather than one — it is a diagnostic, not furniture.
