Lagrange 2.1.1
Release date: 2026-10-30
Lagrange 2.1.1 is a focused follow-up to 2.1.0. Its main purpose is to address crashes and loading failures when Kavita libraries contain many thousands of books and series, while also refining Komga and Kavita integration and including the other updates that landed after 2.1.0.
Highlights
- Large Kavita libraries with many thousands of books and series now use safer, incremental, and paged loading instead of trying to load the complete catalog at once. This targets crashes, timeouts, and screens that previously failed to load. (PR #345, PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Kavita Home and series browsing preserve pagination totals, stable identities, cached content, and profile-scoped offline snapshots while more data is loaded. (PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Komga Library → Browse now uses the paginated book catalog, while Series remains available as a separate navigation path. (PR #358) (
van-geaux) - Downloads can now use supported folders selected through Android's Storage Access Framework, including internal shared storage, and EPUB integrity validation works across those selected-folder flows. (PR #359, PR #363) (
van-geaux)

JimmyJi0309) - f7e44d4 Reworked Kavita Home and series browsing with bounded requests, paged catalogs, stable series identity, and profile-scoped offline snapshots. (PR #355) (
van-geaux) - 5e7fc1c Updated Komga library browsing to use the provider's paginated book catalog, while keeping Series browsing available separately. (PR #358) (
van-geaux) - 0a572af Added support for user-selected internal shared-storage folders as download locations, alongside removable storage support. (PR #359) (
van-geaux)
Improvements
- 90e30d7 Improved Kavita catalog loading for large libraries. (PR #345) (
van-geaux) - Kavita Home and series data now loads incrementally, with stable counts, identities, offline snapshots, and cached refresh fallback. (PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Komga series navigation uses provider-backed summaries and direct page loading. (PR #358) (
van-geaux) - Added targeted EPUB renderer recovery for affected Bigme B6 Color firmware while preserving the normal reader path for other devices. (PR #348) (
JBWortley) - Translation workflow updates now handle locale-specific exports and untranslated strings more reliably. (PR #329, PR #332, PR #336, PR #338) (
van-geaux)
Fixes
- Fixed Kavita Home and series views that could load too much data at once or replace usable content during incremental loading. (PR #345, PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Fixed Kavita Browse counts that could change as additional series pages were loaded. (PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Improved cache, session, downloaded-file, and offline-reader state handling for Kavita profiles. (PR #355) (
van-geaux) - Improved Komga series navigation and provider-specific catalog handling. (PR #358) (
van-geaux) - Provider capabilities that are unavailable on Kavita or Komga are handled explicitly instead of appearing as successful empty operations. (PR #355, PR #358) (
van-geaux) - Portable download storage now validates EPUB content before publishing it to the selected folder, including the shared provider path used by Kavita, BookOrbit, and Komga. (PR #363) (
van-geaux)
Others
- Added a translator contribution guide and linked the translation workflow from the project documentation. (PR #334, PR #340) (
van-geaux) - Reopened pull-request contributions after the contribution pause was lifted. (PR #351) (
van-geaux) - Updated the 2.1.0 release metadata after publication. (PR #325) (
van-geaux) - BookOrbit behavior remains unchanged except where it uses shared provider-neutral infrastructure, including portable download storage.
- Existing profiles, downloads, cached data, and reader preferences should be retained.
Known limitations
- Kavita and Komga behavior still depends on the capabilities and response contracts of the configured server version.
- Live-server and device validation remain separate from automated build evidence.
- Provider-specific unsupported capabilities remain unavailable rather than being represented as successful empty operations.
- Custom EPUB colors do not automatically validate contrast, and PDF/comic custom appearance remains out of scope.
Validation
- Kavita catalog-loading verification passed for the changes in PR #345.
- PR #355 passed 1,163 JVM tests, Android-test compilation, lint, debug APK assembly, and Android-test APK assembly.
- PR #358 passed through the required
build-and-testworkflow. - PR #348 and PR #353 include contributor-reported physical-device validation for their respective reader features.
- Kavita and Komga live-server validation should remain separate from general automated build evidence.
- PR #363 included contributor-reported device validation of a Kavita EPUB download to a user-selected phone folder; BookOrbit and Komga share the implementation path but were not separately device-tested for this release note.
Upgrade notes
- Existing BookOrbit, Komga, and Kavita profiles, local downloads, cached data, and reader preferences should be retained. Existing downloads remain available; newly selected folders are used for subsequent portable downloads.
- No migration action is currently identified for the 2.1.1 provider integration updates.
