⚡ JET Pilot 1.37 — live, fast and seriously capable

JET Pilot now talks to Kubernetes directly with live watches, the resource graph has been rebuilt from scratch, and there's a whole set of new power tools for workloads, editing and day-to-day navigation.

Highlights

  • Live and much faster — lists stream changes straight from the Kubernetes API instead of polling kubectl: updates appear in a fraction of a second, revisiting a view is instant, and pod tables show CPU/memory sparklines. Startup shows the app immediately and caches cluster discovery.
  • The resource graph, reimagined — every app in its own lane from Ingress → Service → Pods with config, storage, identity and scaling attached; health rolls up, missing references stand out, Problems mode zooms to what's broken, clicking a node highlights its full path. Live updates, minimap, search and smooth zooming even on thousands of objects. Secret values never reach the graph.
  • Logs across every pod — open logs on a Deployment, StatefulSet, DaemonSet, Job or Service to follow all its pods at once, colour-coded per pod, with search, pod/container filters, previous containers and export.
  • A smarter YAML editor — bundled locally (works offline), with autocompletion, docs and validation from your cluster's own schemas (CRDs included). Saving shows a diff and runs a server-side dry run before applying; compare an object across contexts.
  • Rollouts, Helm and debugging — rollout history with diffs and rollback, Helm upgrades with a values diff and release history, ephemeral debug containers, a node shell and copying files to/from containers.
  • Workspaces, split view and keyboard — save sets of contexts, namespaces, tabs and port forwards as workspaces; put two tabs side by side; tabs and port-forward profiles persist across restarts (shells reconnect only when you click). Tables gained a k9s-style row navigation mode (? shows all shortcuts), column reorder/resize/grouping and much faster filtering.

Under the hood

  • kube-rs 4 based watch engine with automatic fallback to kubectl polling (and back), tested against a real kube-apiserver with thousands of pods, API outages and restricted RBAC accounts.
  • Faster startup (smaller initial bundle with a size budget in CI), bounded memory everywhere, no orphaned kubectl processes, safer settings writes.

Install

  • macOS — brew install --cask jet-pilot, or download the .dmg for Apple Silicon (aarch64) or Intel (x64).

    [!IMPORTANT]
JET Pilot isn't notarized by Apple (it's free and open source, and we'd rather not pay Apple's yearly fee). If macOS says the app "is damaged" or "can't be verified", run this once after installing (also after a Homebrew install):

    xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine "/Applications/JET Pilot.app"

    Automatic updates keep working afterwards.

  • Windows — run the .exe or .msi installer. SmartScreen may warn about the unsigned installer: More info → Run anyway.

  • Linux — .deb, .rpm or AppImage for x64 and ARM64 (chmod +x the AppImage).

Existing installs update automatically.
