📝 Changelog
🔀 Media Session Switcher
Have Spotify, YouTube, and a podcast app open at the same time? You no longer have to guess which session FluentFlyout will control!
We've introduced a Media Session Switcher that lets you manually choose and pin your active media session:
- Interactive Media Player Button: The media player button in the Media Flyout now serves multiple purposes. Before, clicking it simply opened the media player window. Now, there’s a drop-down arrow beside it that shows all detected active media apps. Selecting an app pins the flyout to it, while choosing Automatic returns to default focus tracking.
- Taskbar Widget Session Switching: You can also switch active media sources on the fly straight from the taskbar widget by right-clicking it to open its context menu!
- Refined Media Flyout Layout: The album art cover size has been slightly enlarged, and the flyout width is slightly larger than before when the media player button is enabled. This should bring for a more refined look.
You can toggle this feature on or off anytime under Media Flyout > Show Media Player name. The session switcher respects your filtered apps. by @nexvlif in #1168
🎧 External Devices Support
A long-awaited community request is finally here! FluentFlyout now displays the media and volume flyouts when media playback or volume is controlled from Bluetooth headphones, earbuds, and other external OEM devices, not just physical keyboard media keys.
Previously, using the touch controls or volume dials on your headphones would adjust audio silently without triggering the media or volume flyout. FluentFlyout now monitors these so that pausing, playing, skipping tracks, or altering volume from external devices immediately displays the flyouts. By @FaroJoaoFaro in #1194
🔊 Flyout Updates
- Volume Flyout Shortcut (
Ctrl + Alt + V): You can now summon the Volume Flyout anywhere across Windows with the new hotkeyCtrl + Alt + V(on by default). The shortcut shows both the media and volume flyouts when there’s an active media session, and only the volume flyout when there isn’t. by @unchihugo in #1216 - Paired Flyouts Display: Opening the Media Flyout manually (via the taskbar widget or system tray icon) will now display the Volume Flyout alongside it. by @lgc2333 in #1198 and @unchihugo in #1169
⚡ Performance & Native Brightness OSD Fixes
- Fixed issue where CPU usage remained consistently high throughout the app's lifespan when specific third-party tools that modify the taskbar or Explorer were active. You should notice significantly lower CPU usage if you were previously using those programs. by @lgc2333 in #1122
- Fixed a bug where removing the native Windows volume flyout (by turning on the FluentFlyout's Volume Flyout) blocked the Windows brightness flyout from showing up when adjusting screen brightness. The native OSD is now restored properly when displaying brightness changes. by @nexvlif in #1179
🪟 Settings Window Updates
- The Settings window will now remember its exact position and size between launches so it opens right where you left it. by @Yasinnet0 in #1197
- We've also added direct navigation links to the App Filtering page from relevant flyout settings cards, making whitelist/blacklist customization much quicker. by @unchihugo in #1208
Other updates:
- 🎨 Play/Pause Accent Color: Fixed an issue where the play/pause button in the Media Flyout would lose its album art accent color on hover or press; it now follows the accent color properly. by @lgc2333 in #1118
- Fixed a bug where the taskbar widget would display "-" when there was no artist name available. by @unchihugo in #1176
- Fixed the taskbar widget's player-specific volume scrolling sometimes not working (turn on under Taskbar Widget > Scroll to Adjust Volume). by @unchihugo in #1204
- Resolved an issue preventing Chinese font characters from properly rendering in bold within the lock keys flyout if the bold text setting was toggled. by @unchihugo in #1120
- Fixed a z-order issue to ensure the taskbar widget stays reliably above the Windows Explorer taskbar content layer on modified Windows taskbars. by @wjingshan in #1173
