26.5.12 Release Notes
What's changed
- Mention Navigation: Improved the "Find Mentions" feature with a new navigation banner. You can now cycle through every mention of a character or location and easily jump back to your original reading spot when you're done.
- More reliable Gemini fetching: I've fixed some issues where character data could occasionally be lost or cut off during a fetch. I also added better handling for temporary service interruptions so your lookups are much more dependable.
- Fixed GPT errors: Some OpenAI models were being a bit picky about how they were asked for data, leading to "Bad Request" errors. I’ve updated the way the plugin talks to these models to make sure they always return the correct information.
- Inline lookup fix: I squashed a bug that could cause the plugin to crash when you tried to look up a character or historical figure while reading. This should be much more stable now.
- Beta update channel: I’ve added a new option to the built-in updater. You can now choose to opt into the Beta Channel if you want to try out new features early and help me test them before they're officially released to everyone.
- Error feedback: Better error messages when a fetch fails
- Battery life: Stop doing background scanning for mentions: saving battery and processing power.
How to try the beta channel
Open X-Ray Settings -> Plugin Settings and look for the Update Channel option. Just switch it to Beta and you'll be set to receive pre-release updates automatically through the plugin's updater.
