The display follows the household's time zone, not the browser's (#829). v2.34.0 put every
server-side clock on the one zone this household lives in; the display was the half that stayed
behind. It mattered because appointments are stored in two forms in the same column: one you create
here is bare wall-clock time, one synced in from Google, Apple or CalDAV is an instant. A browser
leaves the first alone and converts the second into its zone - so on a device outside the
household's zone, two appointments at the same time showed two different times, depending only on
where they came from. The rule that decides what gets converted is now stated once, in
public/utils/timezone.js, and it
mirrors the server's: only a value that carries its own zone is converted. Someone who typed
"19:00" meant 19:00 in any zone, and a bare date has no clock at all - both are read rather than
calculated. What follows the zone alongside the appointments: the "today" markers across every
module, the now-line in the week view, the suggested time for a new appointment, and the wall
display's clock, weekday and night mode.Nothing changes without an explicit household zone. The setting is what opts you in; until then
the display stays on the browser, exactly as before. The value mirrored to the browser is
deliberately the chosen zone rather than the resolved one - the fallback chain is never empty, so
mirroring it would have quietly moved every existing installation onto its container'sTZ. -
An appointment's own colour now beats the colour of the person it is assigned to (discussion
#815, reported by @ToToR65). The order was assignee first, then the appointment's colour, then the
calendar's - which treated two very different things as equally overridable. A calendar colour is
inherited: every appointment in that calendar carries it, so it says nothing about any single
one. An appointment colour is set on that appointment, by hand here or as an RFC 7986COLOR
from a CalDAV server. An explicit statement should not lose to a derived one, so the order is now
the appointment's own colour, then the assignee, then the calendar. An assigned appointment without
its own colour still takes the person's colour, and who it belongs to is still shown in the avatar
stack next to it - that was always how multiple assignees were communicated anyway. The reporter found this while testing what looked like missing CalDAV colour sync: the sync had
been working all along, the colours were simply invisible whenever the calendar was assigned to
someone. -
The note dialog opens at the width the app uses for its content-heavy dialogs (discussion #826,
requested by @Genchou). A note is almost entirely a text area and it had the same width as a form
with four short fields. It now matches Documents, Contacts, Shopping and Budget, which applies to
the reading view of a note as well as the editor. Deliberately not a setting, and deliberately not
full width: past roughly 680px a line gets long enough that it reads worse, not better.
Fixed
- The time-zone field showed "Automatic (UTC)" again after saving. Introduced with the setting in
v2.34.0: the choice was stored correctly, but the settings page builds the object it hands to the
form field by field and never passed the stored zone - or the resolved one behind the "Automatic"
label - back into it. Both are passed through now, so the field states what is set and what
automatic would resolve to.
