Gearslip 0.3.02 connects wirelessly by itself, and phone calls work much better.
New
- Wireless connects by itself. After your first wireless drive, Android asks once whether Gearslip may watch for that car. From then on, Gearslip connects whenever the car's Bluetooth does. A USB cable still wins.
- Phone calls work much better. Calls you place from the car's dialer go through, and you can end or mute a call from the nav bar, which shows who you're talking to and for how long.
- The browser goes full screen, for the whole page or a video in it.
- The nav bar can hide while you navigate, or until you tap the screen.
- Directions sit in short bars, so map apps keep their maps clear of them.
- Share a log from an earlier launch, not just the current one.
- In the car preview, you type with the phone's keyboard.

- Help, Preview, and Logs sit in a row at the bottom of the phone's home screen.
- What's new, at the top of Settings, opens the release notes here on GitHub.
Fixed
- Before each spoken turn, Gearslip asks the car for its speakers, as Android Auto does. Some head units rebooted without this.
- An app that won't run in Gearslip, such as Yandex Maps or 2GIS, now says so after 10 seconds instead of showing "Starting" forever.
- Head units that take only AAC music get one start message, not two. A 2014 aftermarket unit dropped the connection over the second.
- With music on Bluetooth, the car keeps its Bluetooth source.
- Head units offering Android Auto 4.x and 6.x get a version they accept.
- Homemade head units without a certificate keep working, and the wheel buttons and knob work as they do in the main build.
- A car that reports the wrong screen size gets the right one.
- iscle fixed how Gearslip frames, secures, and negotiates the connection, and how it checks what the car sends.
Known issues
- Call audio plays through the car's Bluetooth phone connection, as it does with Android Auto. If a call plays on the phone instead, open the car in the phone's Bluetooth settings and turn on Phone calls.
