Cua Driver 0.36.0

This release makes background work on macOS more reliable. The driver does more without touching your windows, your keyboard focus or your pointer.

What's new

  • Background typing into LibreOffice. Documents and spreadsheets take keystrokes while you work in another app.
  • Chrome's first read of a background window now includes the page. You no longer get an empty tree on the first call.
  • Background drag. Drags work in native apps and on web pages. Electron windows refuse a background drag in this release and offer a foreground drag instead.
  • Background menu commands. Menu and format controls work without bringing the app forward.
  • Reading pages on another Space. You can read a page without switching Spaces.
  • Dropdowns no longer raise the window.
  • No focus bounce after background clicks. Your app keeps focus.
  • A clear error when you run the bare binary. The driver now says so and asks you to run the app bundle (CuaDriver.app), which it needs for a WindowServer connection. health_report has a new windowserver_connection check.
  • Updated skill guidance for agents.

Install

macOS and Linux:

Cua Driver ships universal macOS binaries, x86_64 and arm64 Windows builds,
and Linux preview builds. Release assets also include tag-pinned installer and
uninstaller scripts.

Why GitHub says “Pre-release”

GitHub's label is used only to keep this monorepo's repository-wide “Latest”
pointer from switching between independently released products. A plain Cua
Driver SemVer is a stable release; npm and PyPI publish it on
their normal stable channels, and the installers resolve the versioned
cua-driver-rs-v* releases directly.
