What's Changed
ZVM v0.9.5 adds ways to preserve development builds, read settings in scripts, and access agent instructions directly from the CLI.
- Keep your previous master build:
zvm install --keep-and-rename before-upgrade masterpreserves the old build under its version number and creates an alias for it.--keepand-nare also supported. - Print the agent skill:
zvm --skillwrites the bundled Zig Versions skill and command reference to stdout as Markdown. - JSON settings output:
zvm settings --jsonprints settings without opening the editor. It also supports reading and updating individual keys. - Control upgrade checks: Use
zvm --silentorzvm --silent=aucto skip the automatic upgrade check for one invocation. SetZVM_DISABLE_AUCto disable it through the environment;ZVM_SET_CUremains supported. - Cleaner shell completion: Completion requests no longer check for upgrades or include upgrade notices in their output.
- Target flag aliases: Installation now accepts
--target.osand--target.archalongside--target-osand--target-arch. - More reliable downloads and version switching: Version metadata requests now honor the configured HTTP timeout, HTTP and ZLS errors are handled more consistently, and failures to activate an installed version are reported properly.
