Thor v1.70.6 Release Notes

This update brings powerful new package management capabilities, including a dedicated portable installer for split APKs and enhanced system-level operations via Shizuku.

📦 Portable Installer & Split APKs

FEATURE Universal Installer
Introduced a dedicated PortableInstallerActivity to handle installation requests. Thor can now act as your default handler for installing apps.
FORMATS Expanded File Support
Added native support for installing split APK bundles, including .xapk, .apks, .apkm, and .splits formats, in addition to standard APKs.
SYS Intent Integration
Registered intent filters to seamlessly handle file opens and content URIs from other file managers or browsers.

🛡️ Advanced Shizuku Operations

FEATURE Privileged Uninstall
Implemented system-level uninstallation logic using Shizuku, allowing for deeper cleanup and management of installed packages.
CORE Package Installer Bridge
Built a robust bridge (ShizukuPackageInstallerUtils) to access the system's IPackageInstaller via Shizuku, enabling silent installs and updates for supported users.
TECH Android 13+ Compatibility
Updated package query logic with PackageManagerExt to correctly handle the new flag behavior in Android 13 (Tiramisu) and above.

🔧 Internal Improvements

FIX Data Mapping
Refactored AppInfo mapping logic to better handle installer package names, OBB file locations, and shared data directories.
BUILD Requirements Update
Bumped minSdk to 28 (Android 9) to leverage modern APIs and ensure stability.

📏 Note on APK Size

You may notice the APK size has increased from ~2MB to ~3.5MB. This increase is necessary to support the following enhancements:

Split APK Support: Added native logic to parse and install complex XAPK/APKS formats.
Performance Engine: Migrated to Coil 3 for smoother image loading and included Baseline Profiles to ensure instant app startup.
Robust Compatibility: Included specialized libraries to support hidden API bypasses on Android 14+.
