Switch Library Manager 2.0.0

Version 2 brings a refreshed desktop interface, more control over library organization, and improvements to scanning, naming, and reliability. Thanks to everyone who tested the beta releases and reported issues.

A note on AI usage

AI tools have been used during the development of version 2. I work as a developer and use AI as part of my daily development workflow.
I approach this project the same way I approach work for customers. Small iterations, reviewing the generated code and taking responsibility for the changes.
I want to be open about this so everyone can make their own decision about continuing to use this version or choosing another fork.

Breaking changes:

  • Version 2 introduces a categorized settings format. Older settings are backed up as settings.old.json or settings.old.N.json, and a new file is created with defaults. Transfer your previous settings manually before organizing your library. Console mode pauses until the settings have been reviewed. Migration notes
  • On macOS, application data now belongs in ~/Library/Application Support/Switch Library Manager/. Move your existing settings and data files there to continue using them.
  • Existing settings may retain the previous title and version database URLs. Update them manually to use the project-hosted sources. Fresh settings use these automatically.

Changes

  • A refreshed interface: Migrated from Astilectron to Wails 2, with Bootstrap 5, light/dark/system themes, a built-in settings editor, settings validation, clearer progress overlays, and improved organization confirmations.

  • Easier library browsing: Added game details, individual rows for DLC, filtering on more columns, rescan keyboard shortcuts, folder-opening actions, and an option to remember window size and position. The title bar now follows the selected theme.

  • Clearer organization and more naming options: Preview destinations before organizing, include package contents and file size in naming templates, and choose whether base games include the BASE label. Organization now checks for filename conflicts before starting. Additional scan folders can remain separate or move files into the main library through a setting.

  • More reliable scanning: Improved recursive scanning and handling of inaccessible folders, added optional rescanning at startup and an option to ignore unsupported files, and improved empty-library handling. Fixed cases where distinct files with identical sizes and modification times were skipped, or empty metadata results were treated as successful reads.

  • Improved title, update, and DLC handling: Better support for packages containing multiple content records, cleaner DLC names, more consistent library and organization titles, and corrected version and title-ID fallbacks. Fixed repeated organization appending version information to filenames. Missing-update listings can now display readable version strings.

  • Updated data sources and platform support: Title and version databases are now hosted by this project and generated four times daily. Fixed startup with missing database files, added macOS ARM64 and additional Linux builds, and corrected executable permissions in macOS release ZIPs.
