What's new

Aurora will now refuse to build a dangerous project without a safety review. The moment your request includes a Li-ion battery, a relay switching mains, an outdoor enclosure, or anything above 5V — Vera steps in before Volt touches a single GPIO. She runs a structured hazard analysis, scores every risk on a severity-likelihood matrix, and writes hardware/HAZARD-ANALYSIS.md to disk. If she finds a Critical-rated hazard she raises a blocker and Volt cannot proceed until it is resolved. This is the first time an AI smart-home tool has said "not yet — fix this first" on safety grounds, and meant it.

The question every Aurora build ends with — "but how do I get this into Home Assistant?" — now has four documented answers. New aurora/references/ha-integration/ covers every realistic path: paste into the UI editor, drop files into a folder with !include_dir_named, sync via Samba/SCP/File Editor, or pull from git and get version history and one-command rollback for free. A pattern-selector.md walks you through which one to pick.

Aurora can now audit its own deliveries. Run python aurora/scripts/check-delivery.py <project-folder> after any build and get a pass/fail verdict on every rule that matters. Every specialist's delivery contract now ends with this step. No more "I think it's done." Either the script says DELIVERY APPROVED or it lists exactly what to fix.

Your electronics files finally have their own home. SCHEMATIC.md, PCB-NOTES.md, MANUFACTURING.md, COST-ANALYSIS.md, CERTIFICATION.md, TEST-JIG.md, HAZARD-ANALYSIS.md all move from <project>/esphome/ to <project>/hardware/. The firmware folder stays clean.

Breaking change from v1.7.x — move any PCB files from esphome/ to hardware/ in existing projects.

Vera is no longer a stub. The original soul was a placeholder with no Iron Laws and no delivery contract. v1.8.0 ships the full implementation: two modes, six Iron Laws, and DEEP-mode coordination.
