The gen2 fork is the same version (v0.20). There is no need to reinstall it.
Tutorial, step by step with screenshots: Cheat source tutorial
Reference for the file: Cheat source
One cheat source file per game
Breeze can now keep the source of a game's ASM and pointer cheats in one file, <TitleID>.ini in the game's folder under /switch/breeze/cheats/. Addresses that change when the game updates are written once, as names, in a section for that game version. After an update you add a section with the new addresses, and every cheat is built again from the same source.
To start from the cheats you already have, go to the Cheats menu:
- Import scripts to source writes your loaded ASM cheats (the ones made with the ASM Composer) and plain pointer cheats into the file.
- Install from source (ZL+ZR+Y) builds every cheat of the file that is not in the list yet.
ASM cheats you can share
An ASM cheat from the file shows as one cheat in your list, its hook. Breeze keeps its cave code in a [code cave] folder at the end of the cheat file and writes it into the game by itself. On the Cheats screen it works as before: on, off with the code left in (green), off with the game's code back.
If you give the cheat file to someone using another cheat manager: they turn on the cave fill once, then the hook; after turning the hook off, they turn on the (off) cheat once.
The Cheat composer
The ASM Composer is now called the Cheat composer (Edit Cheat, Y+ZL). On a cheat from the file it edits that cheat's source directly:
| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| ZR+X | Name address: turn the number on the line into a name for this game version. Breeze suggests a name. |
| ZR+B | Build: save and rebuild the cheat where it is. If the cave grew and there is no room, Breeze finds it a new place. |
| ZR+Down | Make mod: turn the value on the line into a list of values (below). |
| ZR+Right | Key: set the buttons held for the cheat to work. |
Mods: one cheat, several values
Make mod turns a value in a cheat, such as a speed factor, into a list. Each value becomes a cheat of its own (Move speed = 2.0, Move speed = 4.0), and they sit in a folder with the cheat. Only one is on at a time; turning it off puts the first value (the default) back.
- You can name the values: type
6:00 AM = 0; 9:00 AM = 180.0and the cheats are calledSet clock 6:00 AM,Set clock 9:00 AM. - To change the list later, use Edit Cheat on any of the value cheats.
- To remove the mod, clear that list. Or delete its slot line in the Cheat composer and press Back.
Pointer cheats work the same way: Make mod on a pointer cheat gives it a list of values to write.
Deleted cheats go on a shelf
Delete a cheat from the file in your cheat list and it is not lost: Cheats menu > Shelf lists it. Restore (X) puts it back where it was; Discard (Minus, twice) removes it for good.
Cheat source editor on the PC
The PC app has a Cheat source button: it opens the running game's file in an editor on the PC, with Check, Listing, Build, Name address, Make mod and Shelf. Breeze on the Switch does the work. The app has a new file, pcconnect_source.py: take the new pc_app.zip.
Diagnostics
Main > Diagnostics (ZR+R) shows the facts needed when you report a problem: versions, firmware, Atmosphere, the cheat service, the running game, sysmodules and recent crash reports. Write to file (Plus) saves them to /switch/Breeze/diagnostics.txt so you can send the file.
